ദക്ഷിണാർദ്ധഖഗോളത്തിലെ പ്രകാശം കുറഞ്ഞ ഒരു നക്ഷത്രരാശിയാണ് ഘടികാരം (Horologium). 1756-ൽ ഫ്രഞ്ച് ജ്യോതിശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനായ നികൊളാസ് ലൂയി ദെ ലകലൈൽ ആണ് ഇതിനെ ആദ്യമായി അടയാളപ്പെടുത്തിയത്. ഒരു പെൻഡുലം ക്ലോക്കിന്റെ ആകൃതിയിലായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം ഇതിനെ ചിത്രീകരിച്ചത്.

കാന്തിമാനം 4ൽ കൂടുതലുള്ള ഒരേയൊരു നക്ഷത്രം മാത്രമേ ഘടികാരത്തിലുള്ളു. അത് ആൽഫ ഹൊറോളോജി ആണ്. ഇതിന്റെ കാന്തിമാനം 3.85 ആണ്. സൂര്യന്റെ വ്യാസത്തിന്റെ 11 ഇരട്ടി വ്യാസമുള്ള ഓറഞ്ച് ഭീമൻ നക്ഷത്രമാണ് ഇത്. നഗ്നനേത്രങ്ങൾ കൊണ്ട് കാണാൻ കഴിയുന്ന നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളിൽ കാന്തിമാനത്തിൽ ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതൽ വ്യതിയാനം കാണിക്കുന്ന ചരനക്ഷത്രമായ ആർ ഹൊറോളജി ഘടികാരം രാശിയിലാണുള്ളത്. 4.7 മുതൽ 14.3 വരെയാണ് ഇതിന്റെ കാന്തിമാനത്തിലുള്ള വ്യത്യാസം. നക്ഷത്രരാശിയിലെ നാല് നക്ഷത്രവ്യവസ്ഥകൾക്ക് സൗരയൂഥേതരഗ്രഹം ഉണ്ട്. ഗ്ലീസ് - 1061 എന്ന നക്ഷത്രത്തിന്റെ ആവാസമേഖലയിൽ ഒരു ഗ്രഹം ഉണ്ട്.

ചരിത്രം തിരുത്തുക

1756-ൽ ഫ്രഞ്ച് ജ്യോതിശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനായ നികൊളാസ് ലൂയി ദെ ലകലൈൽ ഈ നക്ഷത്രസമൂഹത്തെ ആദ്യമായി അടയാളപ്പെടുത്തിയത്.[1][2] 1756ൽ പെൻഡുലത്തോടു കൂടിയ ക്ലോക്ക് എന്നാണ് അദ്ദേഹം ഈ രാശിക്ക് പേരു നൽകിയത്. 1763-ൽ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മരണാനന്തരം പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച ഒരു കാറ്റലോഗിൽ ഇതിന് ഹോറോളജിയം എന്ന ലാറ്റിൻ പേരു നൽകി.[3] മണിക്കൂർ പറയുന്നതിനുള്ള ഉപകരണം എന്നാണ് ഈ പേരിന് അർത്ഥം.[4]

സവിശേഷതകൾ തിരുത്തുക

ആകാശത്തിന്റെ 248.9 ചതുരശ്ര ഡിഗ്രി ഭാഗത്താണ് ഘടികാരം നക്ഷത്രരാശി സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. 88 ആധുനിക നക്ഷത്രസമൂഹങ്ങളിൽ വലിപ്പം കൊണ്ട് 58-ാം സ്ഥാനമാണ് ഇതിനുള്ളത്. [5] തെക്കൻ ആകാശഗോളത്തിലാണ് ഇതിന്റെ സ്ഥാനം. അക്ഷാംശം 23°Nന് തെക്കു ഭാഗത്തുള്ളവർക്ക് ഈ നക്ഷത്രസമൂഹം ദൃശ്യമാണ്.[5] യമുന, വല, സ്രാവ്, ജലസർപ്പം എന്നിവയാണ് ചുറ്റുമുള്ള മറ്റു നക്ഷത്രരാശികൾ. 1922-ൽ അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര ജ്യോതിശാസ്ത്ര സംഘടന "Hor" എന്ന മൂന്നക്ഷര ചുരുക്കെഴുത്ത് അംഗീകരിച്ചു.[6] ഇരുപത്തിരണ്ട് വശങ്ങളുള്ള ബഹുഭുജമായാണ് ഘടികാരം രാശിയുടെ ഔദ്യോഗിക അതിരുകൾ നിർവചിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. ഖഗോളരേഖാംശം 02h 12.8mനും 04h 20.3mനും ഇടയിലും അവനമനം -39.64°യ്ക്കും -67.04°യ്ക്കും ഇടയിലുമായാണ് ഇതിന്റെ സ്ഥാനം.[7]

നക്ഷത്രങ്ങൾ തിരുത്തുക

കാന്തിമാനം 4ൽ കൂടുതലുള്ള ഒരു നക്ഷത്രം മാത്രമേ ഘടികാരത്തിലുള്ളു.[8] 41 നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളുടെ കാന്തിമാനം 6.5നേക്കാൾ താഴ്ന്നതോ അതിനു തുല്യമോ ആണ്.[5] 1756-ൽ ആൽഫ (α Hor) മുതൽ ലാംഡ (λ Hor)വരെ 11 നക്ഷത്രങ്ങൾക്ക് ലക്കലൈൽ ബേയർ നാമകരണ സമ്പ്രദായം അനുസരിച്ച് പേരുകൾ നൽകി. പത്തൊൻപതാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിന്റെ മധ്യത്തിൽ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് ജ്യോതിശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനായ ഫ്രാൻസിസ് ബെയ്‌ലി, എപ്സിലോൺ, തീറ്റ എന്നീ രണ്ട് പേരുകൾ നീക്കംചെയ്തു. പേരു നൽകാൻ യോഗ്യതയില്ലാത്ത വിധം മങ്ങിയതായിരുന്നു അവ എന്നായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റ അഭിപ്രായം. ലക്കയിലിന്റെ ബീറ്റ ഹോറോളജിയുടെ കോർഡിനേറ്റുകളുമായി പൊരുത്തപ്പെടുന്ന നക്ഷത്രം കണ്ടെത്താനും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല. കോർഡിനേറ്റുകൾ തെറ്റാണെന്ന് നിശ്ചയിച്ച് അദ്ദേഹം മറ്റൊരു നക്ഷത്രത്തിന് ആ പേര് നൽകി. കാപ്പ ഹോറോളോജിയും പരിശോധിച്ചുറപ്പിക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല. 1879-ൽ, അമേരിക്കൻ ജ്യോതിശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനായ ബെഞ്ചമിൻ അപ്തോർപ് ഗൗൾഡ് മ്യൂ, ന്യൂ എന്നീ നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളെ കൂടി കൂട്ടിച്ചേർത്തു.[3]

ഭൂമിയിൽ നിന്ന് 115 പ്രകാശവർഷം അകലെ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ആൽഫ ഹൊറോളോജിയാണ് ഏറ്റവും തിളക്കമുള്ള നക്ഷത്രം. ഇതിന്റെ കാന്തിമാനം 3.9 ആണ്.[9] ജർമ്മൻ ജ്യോതിശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനായ ജോഹാൻ എലർട്ട് ബോഡ് അതിനെ ഘടികാരത്തിന്റെ പെൻഡുലമായി ചിത്രീകരിച്ചു.[10] സ്പെക്ട്രൽ തരം K2III ആയ ഓറഞ്ച് ഭീമൻ നക്ഷത്രമാണിത്. സൂര്യന്റെ വ്യാസത്തിന്റെ 11 ഇരട്ടിയുള്ള ഈ നക്ഷത്രം അതിന്റെ ആയുസ്സിന്റെ ഭൂരിഭാഗവും ഒരു വെള്ള മുഖ്യധാരാനക്ഷത്രമായിരുന്നു.[11] സൂര്യന്റെ പിണ്ഡത്തിന്റെ 1.55 മടങ്ങാണ് ഇതിന്റെ പിണ്ഡം. [12] 5,028 കെൽവിൻ ഉപരിതല താപനിലയുള്ള ഇതിന്റെ ഫോട്ടോസ്ഫിയറിൽ നിന്ന് സൂര്യന്റെ പ്രകാശത്തിന്റെ 38 മടങ്ങ് പ്രകാശം പ്രസരിക്കുന്നു.[13]

ഘടികാരം രാശിയിൽ തിളക്കത്തിൽ രണ്ടാമതു നിൽക്കുന്ന നക്ഷത്രമാണ് ഡെൽറ്റ ഹെറോളജി. ഇതിന്റെ കാന്തിേമാനം 4.93 ആണ്.[14] ആൽഫയും ഡെൽറ്റയും ദൃശ്യ ഇരട്ടകളാണ്.[15] ഡെൽറ്റ ഒരു ദ്വന്ദ്വനക്ഷത്രം ആണ്. സ്പെക്ട്രൽ തരം A5V ആയ വെളുത്ത മുഖ്യധാരാ നക്ഷത്രത്തിന് സൂര്യന്റെ 1.41 മടങ്ങ് പിണ്ഡവും 5.15 കാന്തിമാനവും ഉണ്ട്. അതിന്റെ കൂട്ടാളിയുടെ കാന്തിമാനം 7.29 ആണ്.[16] ഭൂമിയിൽ നിന്ന് 179 പ്രകാശവർഷം അകലെയാണ് ഇത് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്.[9]

സൂര്യനെക്കാൾ 63 മടങ്ങ് പ്രകാശമുള്ള ഒരു വെളുത്ത ഭീമനാണ് ബീറ്റ ഹോറോളജി. ഇതിന്റെ ഉപരിതല താപനില 8303 കെൽവിനും കാന്തിമാനം 5ഉം ആണ്.[13] ഇത് ഭൂമിയിൽ നിന്ന് 312 പ്രകാശവർഷം അകലെയാണുള്ളത്.[17] ലാംഡ ഹൊറോളജി സ്പെക്ട്രൽ തരം F2III ആയ വെളുത്ത ഭീമൻ നക്ഷത്രമാണ്. അത് സെക്കൻഡിൽ 140 കി.മീ വേഗതയിൽ കറങ്ങുന്നുണ്ട്. അതിനാൽ അതിന്റെ ധ്രുവങ്ങൾ നേരിയ തോതിൽ പരന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.[18] ഇത് ഭൂമിയിൽ നിന്ന് ഏകദേശം 161 പ്രകാശവർഷം അകലെയാണ്.[9]

ഭൂമിയിൽ നിന്നും 169 പ്രകാശവർഷം അകലെ കിടക്കുന്ന ഒരു മുഖ്യധാരാ നക്ഷത്രമാണ് നൂ ഹൊറോളജി.[19] സ്പെക്ട്രൽ തരം A2V ആയ ഇതിന്റെ കാന്തിമാനം 5.24 ആണ്.[20] സൂര്യന്റെ പിണ്ഡത്തിന്റെ 1.9 മടങ്ങ് പിണ്ഡമുണ്ട് ഇതിന്. ഏകദേശം 540 ദശലക്ഷം വർഷം പ്രായമുള്ളതായി കണക്കാക്കുന്നു.

R ഹൊറോളജി ഒരു ചുവപ്പുഭീമൻ മിറ വേരിയബിളാണ്. രാത്രിയിലെ ആകാശത്തിൽ നഗ്നനേത്രങ്ങൾ കൊണ്ട് ഇതിനെ കാണാൻ കഴിയും.[21] ഇത് ഭൂമിയിൽ നിന്ന് ഏകദേശം 1,000 പ്രകാശവർഷം അകലെയാണ്. ഇതിന്റെ ഏറ്റവും കുറഞ്ഞ കാന്തിമാനം 14.3ഉം കൂടിയ കാന്തിമാനം 4.7ഉം ആണ്. ഏകദേശം 13 മാസമാണ് ഇതിനെടുക്കുന്ന കാലയളവ്.[22] Tഹൊറോളജി, U ഹൊറോളജി എന്നിവയും മിറ വേരിയബിളുകളാണ്.[15] ഈ രണ്ട് നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളുടെയും പ്രകാശ വക്രങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള വിവരങ്ങൾ അപൂർണ്ണമായതിനാൽ കൂടുതൽ നിരീക്ഷണം ആവശ്യമാണെന്ന് 2003-ൽ അസ്ട്രോണമിക്കൽ സൊസൈറ്റി ഓഫ് സതേൺ ആഫ്രിക്ക റിപ്പോർട്ട് ചെയ്തു.[23] TW ഹൊറോളജി ഒരു കാർബൺ നക്ഷത്രം ആണ്.[22] കൂടാതെ ഇതൊരു ചുവപ്പു ഭീമൻ ചരനക്ഷവുത്രമാണ്. ഭൂമിയിൽ നിന്ന് 1,370 പ്രകാശവർഷം അകലെയാണ് ഇതുള്ളത്.[24]

മഞ്ഞ കുള്ളൻ നക്ഷത്രമാണ് Iota ഹൊറോളജി. സൂര്യന്റെ 1.23 മടങ്ങ് പിണ്ഡവും 1.16 മടങ്ങ് വ്യാസവും ഉള്ള F8V സ്പെക്ട്രൽ തരം നക്ഷത്രമാണ് ഇത്.[25] ഭൂമിയിൽ നിന്ന് 57 പ്രകാശവർഷം അകലെയാണ് ഇതിന്റെ സ്ഥാനം.[26] അതിന്റെ കെമിക്കൽ പ്രൊഫൈൽ, ചലനം, പ്രായം എന്നിവ സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്നത് ഇത് ഹ്യാഡിസ് ക്ലസ്റ്ററിനുള്ളിലാണ് രൂപപ്പെട്ടത് എന്നാണ്. എന്നാൽ ഇപ്പോഴിത് ഈ ക്ലസ്റ്ററിൽ നിന്നും 130 പ്രകാശവർഷം അകലെയാണ്.[27] വ്യാഴത്തിന്റെ 2.5 മടങ്ങ് പിണ്ഡമുള്ള ഒരു ഗ്രഹം ഇതിനുണ്ട്. 307 ദിവസം കൊണ്ടാണ് ഇത് ഒരു പരിക്രമണം പൂർത്തിയാക്കുന്നത്.[28] ഭൂമിയിൽ നിന്ന് 164 പ്രകാശവർഷം അകലെ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന സൂര്യനെപ്പോലെയുള്ള ഒരു നക്ഷത്രമാണ് HD 27631.[29] ഒരു പരിക്രമണം പൂർത്തിയാക്കാൻ 2,208 ദിവസം (ആറ് വർഷം) എടുക്കുന്ന ഒരു ഗ്രഹം ഉണ്ടെന്ന് കണ്ടെത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.[30] വ്യാഴത്തിന്റെ 1.45 മടങ്ങ് പിണ്ഡമുണ്ട് ഇതിന്. 2.6 ബില്യൺ വർഷം പ്രായമുള്ള മുഖ്യധാരാ നക്ഷത്രമാണ് WASP-120. സ്പെക്ട്രൽ തരം F5V ആയ ഇതിന് സൂര്യനേക്കാൾ 1.4 മടങ്ങ് പിണ്ഡമുണ്ട്. വ്യാഴത്തിന്റെ 4.85 മടങ്ങ് പിണ്ഡമുള്ള ഒരു വലിയ ഗ്രഹം ഇതിനുണ്ട്. അത് ഓരോ 3.6 ദിവസത്തിലും അതിന്റെ പരിക്രമണം പൂർത്തിയാക്കുന്നു. ഉപരിതല താപനില 1,880 കെൽവിൻ എന്നാണ് കണക്കാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നത്.[31]

ദൃശ്യകാന്തിമാനം 13.06 ഉള്ള ഗ്ലീസ് 1061 എന്ന നക്ഷത്രം സൂര്യന്റെ 12% പിണ്ഡവും 15% വ്യാസവുമുള്ള ചുവപ്പുകുള്ളനാണ്. ഭൂമിയിൽ നിന്ന് 12 പ്രകാശവർഷം അകലെയാണ് ഇത് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്. സൂര്യനോട് ഏറ്റവും അടുത്തുള്ള നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളിൽ 20-ാം സ്ഥാനമാണ് ഇതിനുള്ളത്. 2019 ഓഗസ്റ്റിൽ, ഇതിന് മൂന്ന് ഗ്രഹങ്ങളുണ്ടെന്ന് പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു. അതിലൊന്ന് അതിന്റെ വാസയോഗ്യമായ മേഖലയിലാണ്.[32]

വിദൂരാകാശപദാർത്ഥങ്ങൾ തിരുത്തുക

NGC 1261 ഭൂമിയിൽ നിന്ന് 53,000 പ്രകാശവർഷം അകലെ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു ഗോളീയ താരവ്യൂഹമാണ്. ഇതിന്റെ കാന്തിമാനം 8 ആണ്.[22] ഇത് മ്യൂ ഹോറോളോജിയുടെ 4.7 ഡിഗ്രി വടക്ക് - വടക്കുകിഴക്കായി സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നു.[33] ഭൂമിയിൽ നിന്ന് 123.3 കിലോപാർസെക് (402,000 പ്രകാശവർഷം) അകലെയുള്ള ഗോളീയ താരവ്യൂഹമാണ് ആർപ്-മഡോർ 1.[34]

ആൽഫ ഹൊറോളോജിയുടെ 2.1 ഡിഗ്രി പടിഞ്ഞാറ് - തെക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറായി ബാർഡ് സ്പൈറൽ ഗാലക്സിയാണ് NGC 1512. ഇതിന്റെ കാന്തിമാനം 10.2 ആണ്.[33] ഇതിൽ നിന്നും ഏകദേശം 5 കോണീയ മിനിറ്റ് വ്യത്യാസത്തിൽ കിടക്കുന്ന കുള്ളൻ ലെന്റികുലാർ ഗാലക്സിയാണ് NGC 1510. ഇവ രണ്ടും ലയനത്തിന്റെ പാതയിലാണ്.[35]

ഹോറോളജിയം-റെറ്റിക്യുലം സൂപ്പർക്ലസ്റ്റർ ഒരു ഗാലക്സി സൂപ്പർക്ലസ്റ്ററാണ്. പ്രാദേശിക പ്രപഞ്ചത്തിലെ (ഭൂമിയുടെ 200 മെഗാ പാർസെക് പരിധിയിലുള്ള എന്തും) സൂപ്പർ ക്ലസ്റ്ററുകളിൽ വലിപ്പത്തിൽ രണ്ടാമത്തേതാണ് ഇത്. ഇതിൽ 20-ലധികം ആബേൽ ഗാലക്സി ക്ലസ്റ്ററുകൾ അടങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു. ആകാശത്തിന്റെ 100 ഡിഗ്രി 2-ൽ കൂടുതൽ വിസ്തൃതിയുണ്ട് ഇതിന്.[36]
