സാൻഗോ (സാൻഘോ എന്നും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു.) മദ്ധ്യ ആഫ്രിക്കൻ റിപ്പബ്ലിക്കിലെ ഔദ്യോഗികഭാഷയാണ്.

ചില ഭാഷാശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞർ വില്ല്യം ജെ. സമാറിനെ അടിസ്ഥാനമാക്കി ഒരു ക്രിയോൾ ഭാഷയായി ആണു കരുതിവരുന്നത്. എന്നിരുന്നാലും, (മാർസെൽ ഡിക്കി കിദിരി, ചാൾസ് എച്ച് മോറിൽ പോലുള്ളവർ)ക്രിയോൾ സിദ്ധാന്തത്തെ അനുകൂലിക്കുന്നില്ല.
ക്രിയോൾ ഭാഷയാണിതെന്നു പറയുന്നവർ ഇത് ആഫ്രിക്കൻ ഭാഷയെന്നതിനേക്കാൾ യൂറോപ്പ്യൻ ഭാഷയായാണ് കരുതുന്നത്. ഫ്രഞ്ച് ഫാഷ അനേകം പരകീയ വാക്കുകൾ ഈ ഭാഷയ്ക്കു നൽകിയിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കിലും, സാൻഗോ ഭാഷയുടെ ഘടന മുഴുവനായും ആഫ്രിക്കനാണെന്നു കാണാം.

1800കളിലെ ഫ്രഞ്ച് കോളനിവത്കരണത്തിനുമുമ്പ്, ഉബങി നദിയുടെ കരകളിലുള്ള ആളുകൾ ഒരുതരം സാൻഗോ ഭാഷയെ ബന്ധിതഭാഷയായി ഉപയോഗിച്ചുവന്നു.[5] ഫ്രഞ്ച് ആർമി മദ്ധ്യ ആഫ്രിക്കൻ ദേശക്കാരെ തങ്ങളുടെ പട്ടാളത്തിൽച്ചേർത്തപ്പോൾ ആഫ്രിക്കൻ വംശജർക്ക് പരസ്പരവിനിമയത്തിനു പൊതുഭാഷ ആവശ്യമായിവന്നു. അങ്ങനെ സാൻഗോ ഭാഷക്കു കൂടുതൽ പ്രചാരം ലഭ്യമായി. സാൻഗോ ഭാഷയ്ക്ക് ഫ്രഞ്ച് മിഷണറിമാർ ആണ് എഴുത്തുരീതി കൊണ്ടുവന്നത്.കാത്തൊലിക്ക് പ്രൊട്ടസ്റ്റന്റ് വ്യത്യാസം ഇതിനുണ്ടായി. [6] 1966ലെ ഈ ഭാഷയിലെ ബൈബിൾ ഈ ഭാഷയുടെ എഴുത്തുരീതിയ്ക്കു വലിയ സംഭാവനകൾ നൽകി. [6]
1984ൽ അന്നത്തെ പ്രസിഡന്റ് ആയിരുന്ന André Kolingba 'Décret No 84.025' ഒപ്പുവയ്ക്കുകയും സാൻഗോ ഭാഷയ്ക്ക് ഒരു ഔദ്യോഗികഎഴുത്തുരീതി കൊണ്ടുവരികയുംചെയ്തു. [7] ഔദ്യോഗിക സാൻഗോ ഭാഷയ്ക്ക് 22 അക്ഷരങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ട്.
Letters are pronounced as their IPA equivalent except for ⟨y⟩, pronounced as [j]. Also, the digraphs ⟨kp, gb, mb, mv, nd, ng, ngb, nz⟩ are pronounced [k͡p], [ɡ͡b], [ᵐb], [(ᶬv)], [ⁿd], [ᵑɡ], [ᵑ͡ᵐɡ͡b] and [ⁿz], respectively.
