ഹാസ്യകാരനും നടനും എഴുത്തുകാരനുംസാമൂഹ്യ വിമർശകനുമാണ്‌ ജോർജ്ജ് കാർലിൻ.രാഷ്ട്രീയം ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് ഭാഷ മനശാസ്ത്രം മതം തുടങ്ങിയ അനവധി വിഷയങ്ങളിൽ ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ താമാശക്ക് വിധേയമായിട്ടുണ്ട്[1] .2004 ഏപ്രിലിൽ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ കോമടി സെന്റ്രൽ ലിസ്റ്റിൽ അമേരിക്കൻ പ്രേക്ഷകരുടെ ഏറ്റവും മികച്ച ഹാസ്യകാരന്മാരിൽ ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിനു രണ്ടാം സ്ഥാനം ലഭിച്ചു[2] .1977ൽ ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ആദ്യ 14 സ്റ്റാന്റ് അപ്പ് കോമഡികൾ HBO പ്രദർശിപ്പിച്ചു.1980ന്റെ അവസാനത്തോടെ അമേരിക്കൻ സമൂഹത്തിലെ സാമൂഹിക സാംസ്ക്കാരിക വിമർശനങ്ങളിലേക്ക് തിരിഞ്ഞു.അമേരിക്കയിലെ രാഷ്ട്രീയവും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പ്രധാന വിമർശന മേഖലകളായി.മൂന്ന് പതിറ്റാണ്ട് The Tonight Show എന്ന പരമ്പരയുടെ അഭിനേതാവും അവതാരകനുമായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം.1975ൽ saturday Night Live എന്ന എപ്പിസോഡുമായി തുടങ്ങിയ പരുപാടി 2008ൽ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മരണത്തിനു 4 മാസം മുൻപ് its Bad for Ya എന്ന എപ്പിസ്സോഡ് വരെ തുടർന്നു.മരണാന്തരം ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിനു മാർക്ക് ട്വയ്ൻ 2017ൽ ലഭിച്ചു.റോലിങ്ങ് സ്റ്റോൺ മാഗസിൻ എക്കാലത്തേയും മികച്ച 50 സ്റ്റാന്റ് അപ്പ് കൊമേഡിയന്മാരിൽ രണ്ടാം സ്ഥാനം നൽകി[3].
