ഇൻറർനെറ്റ് എക്സ്പ്ലോററിൻറെ പുതിയ പതിപ്പാണ് വിൻഡോസ് ഇൻറർനെറ്റ് എക്സ്പ്ലോറർ 8. 2008, മാർച്ച് അഞ്ചിനാണ് ആദ്യ ബീറ്റ പതിപ്പ് പുറത്ത് വന്നത്. 2009 മാർച്ച് 19-ന്‌ വിൻഡോസ് എക്സ്.പി., വിൻഡോസ് സെർവർ 2003, വിൻഡോസ് വിസ്റ്റ, വിൻഡോസ് സെർവർ 2008 എന്നീ ഓപ്പറേറ്റിംഗ് സിസ്റ്റങ്ങളിൽ ഉപയോഗിക്കാവുന്ന ആദ്യ പതിപ്പ് പുറത്തുവന്നു[2]. ഇതിന്റെ 32 ബിറ്റ്, 64 ബിറ്റ് പതിപ്പുകൾ ലഭ്യമാണ്‌.
