മാന്നാർ ഉൾക്കടൽ മറൈൻ ദേശീയോദ്യാനം
ഇന്ത്യൻ മഹാസമുദ്രത്തിലെ മാന്നാർ ഉൾക്കടലിലെ 21 ചെറുദ്വീപുകൾ ചേർന്ന ദേശീയോദ്യാനമാണ് മാന്നാർ ഉൾക്കടൽ മറൈൻ ദേശീയോദ്യാനം. 21 ദ്വീപുകളും അവയെ ചുറ്റിപ്പറ്റിയുള്ള പവിഴപ്പുറ്റുകളും ചേർന്നതാണ് ഈ ദേശീയോദ്യാനം. ഇത് തമിഴ്നാട് തീരത്തുനിന്നും 1 മുതൽ 10 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലത്തിലായി സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. തൂത്തുക്കുടിക്കും ധനുഷ്കോടിക്കുമിടയിൽ 160 കിലോമീറ്റർ നീളത്തിലാണ് ഈ ദേശീയോദ്യാനം. ഇത് മാന്നാർ ജൈവമണ്ഡലത്തിന്റെ പ്രധാന സ്ഥലമാണ്. ഇതിനുചുറ്റമുള്ള 10 കിലോമീറ്റർ പ്രദേശം മാന്നാർ ജൈവമണ്ഡലത്തിന്റെ ബഫർ പ്രദേശമായി സംരക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു[1]. തീരത്തും സമുദ്രത്തിലുമായി അനേകം തരം ചെടികളും മൃഗങ്ങളും ഈ ദേശീയോദ്യാനത്തിൽ കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. ഈ ദേശീയോദ്യാനത്തിലുള്ള സന്ദർശനം പ്രത്യേകം തയ്യാറാക്കിയ അടിഭാഗം ഗ്ലാസുകൊണ്ട് നിർമ്മിച്ച ബോട്ട് സവാരിയാണ്[2].
