പാമ്പ് പരുന്തിനു[2] [3][4][5] Short-toed Snake Eagle എന്നും Short-toed Eagle എന്നും പേരുണ്ട്. ശാസ്ത്രീയ നാമം Circaetus gallicus എന്നാണ്.

മെഡിറ്ററേനിയൻ , റഷ്യ, മിഡിൽ ഈസ്റ്റ്, ഏഷ്യയുടെ ഭാഗങ്ങൾ; പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് ഇന്ത്യൻ ഉപഭൂഖണ്ഡം.
വിവരണംതിരുത്തുക
62-67 സെ.മീ നീളവും 170-185 സെ.മീ ചിറകുകളുടെ വലിപ്പവും ഉണ്ട്. തൂക്കം 1.2 – 2.3 കി.ഗ്രാം ആണ്. [6] വെളുത്ത അടിഭാഗം, ചാര നിറം കലർന്ന തവിട്ടു നിറമുള്ള മുകൾ ഭാഗം. താടി, കഴുത്ത്, നെഞ്ചിന്റെ മുകൾഭാഗം എന്നിവ മങ്ങിയ തവിട്ടുനിറമാണ്. വാലിൽ 3-4 പട്ടകളുണ്ട്. തിളങ്ങുന്ന മഞ്ഞനിറമാണ് കണ്ണുകൾക്ക്. .

ഭക്ഷണംതിരുത്തുക
പ്രധാന ഭക്ഷണം പാമ്പ്, ചിലപ്പോൾ പല്ലി. ചിലപ്പോൾ വലിയ പാമ്പുകളുമയി ഭൂമിയിൽ മൽപ്പിടുത്തം നടത്തുന്നത് കാണാരുണ്ട്.[7] അപൂർവമായി അവ മുയൽ പോലുള്ള ചെറിയ സസ്തനി കളേയും പക്ഷികളേയും വലിയ പ്രാണികളേയും ഭക്ഷിക്കാറുണ്ട്. ഇത് ഒരു മുട്ടയാണ് ഇടുന്നത്. ഇവ 17 കൊല്ലം വരെ ജീവിക്കും.
