തമിഴ്നാട്ടിലെ 38 ജില്ലകളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് തിരുപ്പത്തൂർ ജില്ല( Tirupathur district,திருப்பத்தூர் மாவட்டம்)[2]. 2019-ൽ വെല്ലൂർ ജില്ലയെ മൂന്ന് ജില്ലകളായി വിഭജിച്ചാണ് ഇത് രൂപീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടത് [3] തിരുപ്പത്തൂർ നഗരമാണ് ജില്ലയുടെ ആസ്ഥാനം.[4][5][6][7][8]

തിരുത്തുകവടക്ക് കിഴക്ക് വെല്ലൂർ ജില്ല, തെക്ക് പടിഞ്ഞാറ് കൃഷ്ണഗിരി ജില്ല തെക്ക് കിഴക്ക് തിരുവണ്ണാമല ജില്ല വടക്ക് പടിഞ്ഞാറ് ആന്ധ്രാപ്രദേശ്ഇലെ ചിറ്റൂർ ജില്ലഎന്നിവയാണ് ഈ ജില്ലയുടെ അതിർത്തികൾ. ഡെൽഹി- ചെന്നൈ ദേശീയപാത 66 തിരുപ്പത്തൂർ ജില്ലയിലൂടെ കടന്നുപോകുന്നു.
വെല്ലൂർ ജില്ലയിലെ തെക്ക് പടിഞ്ഞാറൻ താലൂക്കുകളായിരുന്ന തിരുപ്പത്തൂർ, വാണിയമ്പാടി, അംബൂർ എന്നീ താലൂക്കുകളെ ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തി [9] രൂപീകൃതമായ ഈ ജില്ലയിൽ നാത്രംപള്ളി ഉൾപ്പെടെ നാല് താലൂക്കുകളാണുള്ളത്.[10]
