ഹംഗറിയിലെ ഔദ്യോഗിക ഭാഷയാണ് ഹംഗേറിയൻ ( Hungarian magyar nyelv മഗ്യാർ ) യൂറോപ്യൻ യൂണിയന്റെ 24 ഔദ്യോഗിക ഭാഷകളിൽ ഒന്നാണിത്. 1920-ലെ ട്രിയനൻ ഉടമ്പടി പ്രകാരം നേരത്തെ ആസ്ട്രോ-ഹങ്കേറിയൻ സാമ്രാജ്യത്തിൽ ഉൾപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന സ്ലോവാക്യ, പടിഞ്ഞാറൻ ഉക്രൈൻ, റൊമാനിയയിലെ ദക്ഷിണ, മദ്ധ്യ പ്രദേശങ്ങൾ (ട്രാൻസിൽവേനിയ, പാർത്തിയം), വടക്കൻ സെർബിയ, തെക്കൻ പോളണ്ട്, വടക്കൻ ക്രൊയേഷ്യ, വടക്കൻ സ്ലൊവീന്യ എന്നീ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലേയ്ക്കു ചിതറിപ്പോയ ഹംഗേറിയൻ വംശജർ ധാരാളമായി താമസിക്കുന്നയിടങ്ങളിൽ ഹംഗേറിയൻ ഭാഷ സംസാരിക്കുന്നവർ ധാരാളമായുണ്ട്.ഇന്തോ-യുറോപ്യൻ ഭാഷകളിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടാത്ത യൂറോപ്യൻ ഭാഷകളിൽ ഒന്നാണിത്. ഉറാലിക്ക് ഭാഷാഗോത്രത്തിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു ഭാഷയാണിത്
