വൻതത്ത
വൻതത്തയുടേ[2] [3][4][5] ഇംഗ്ലീഷിലെ പേര് Alexandrine Parakeet എന്നും Alexandrian Parrot എന്നുമാണ്. ശാസ്ത്രീയ നാമം Psittacula eupatria എന്നാണ്. അലക്സാണ്ഡർ ചക്രവർത്തിയെ അനുസ്മരിച്ചാണ് ഈ പേർ ചെർത്തത്. അദ്ദേഹം പഞ്ചാബ് മേഖലയിൽ നിന്നും യൂറോപ്പിലേക്കും മെഡിറ്ററേനിയൻ രാജ്യങ്ങളിലേക്കും അനേകം പക്ഷികളെ കയറ്റി അയച്ചിരുന്നു..[6] ഇത് ശരാശരി 40 വർഷം വരെ ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കും. പേരിലെ eupatria ഗ്രീക്ക് പദമാണ്. eu എന്നാൽ നല്ലത് അല്ലെങ്കിൽ രാജകീയം എന്നും patria എന്നാൽ പിതൃരാജ്യം അല്ലെങ്കിൽ പാരമ്പര്യം എന്നാണ്.

വിവരണം തിരുത്തുക
ഈ പക്ഷി അതിന്റെ വർഗ്ഗത്തിൽ വച്ച് ഏറ്റവും വലുതാണ്. 58 സെ.മീ നീളമുണ്ട്. ചിറകിന് 18.9-21.5 സെ.മീ നീളമുണ്ട്. വാലിന്റെ നീളം 21.5-35.5 സെ.മീ ആണ്. തൂക്കം 200-300 ഗ്രാം വരെ. [7][8]പ്രധാനമായും പച്ച നിറമാണ്. കവിളിൽ നീല കല്ര്ന്ന പച്ച നിറമുണ്ട്. വയർ മഞ്ഞകലർന്ന പച്ചയാണ്. വാലിന്റെ നടുഭാഗത്തിന്റെ മുകൾ ഭാഗം നീല കലർന്ന പച്ചയാണ്. വാലിന്റെ മുകൾവശം പച്ചയും അടിവശം മഞ്ഞയുമാണ്. വൻതത്തയുടെ എല്ലാ ഉപവിഭാഗങ്ങൾക്കും ചിറകിൽ കരിംചുവപ്പു നിറത്തിൽ ഒരു അടയാളം കാണാം. കാലുകൾ ചാരനിറമാണ്.
