ഗൂഗിൾ ഗ്ലാസ്
ഒപ്റ്റിക്കൽ ഹെഡ് മൗണ്ടഡ് ഡിസ്പ്ലേയോടു (ഒ.എം.എച്ച്.ഡി.) കൂടിയ ശരീരത്തിൽ ധരിക്കാവുന്ന കമ്പ്യൂട്ടറാണ് ഗൂഗിൾ ഗ്ലാസ് ("GLΛSS" എന്ന ശൈലിയിലാണെഴുതുന്നത്). ഗൂഗിൾ തങ്ങളുടെ പ്രോജെക്റ്റ് ഗ്ലാസ് എന്ന ഗവേഷണ വികസന പദ്ധതിയിലൂടെ [8] ഇത് വികസിപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുകയാണ്. വൻതോതിൽ വിൽക്കാൻ സാധിക്കുന്ന സർവ്വസാധാരണമായ ഒരു കമ്പ്യൂട്ടർ വികസിപ്പിക്കുക എന്നതാണ് ലക്ഷ്യം.[9] സ്മാർട്ട് ഫോണുകളോട് സാമ്യതയുള്ളതും കൈ തൊടാതെ ഉപയോഗിക്കാവുന്നതുമായ രീതിയിലാണ്[10] ഇത് വികസിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്. സാധാരണ ഭാഷയിലുള്ള നിർദ്ദേശങ്ങളിലൂടെ ഇന്റർനെറ്റുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെടാൻ ഈ ഫോണിന് സാധിക്കും.[11][12]

ഇപ്പോൾ വിൽക്കുന്ന ഫ്രെയിമുകളിൽ ലെൻസുകൾ ഘടിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടില്ലെങ്കിലും റേബാൻ, വാർബി പാർക്കർ മുതലായ സൺഗ്ലാസ് നിർമാതാക്കളുമായി സഹരിച്ച് അവയും ലഭ്യമാക്കാൻ ഗൂഗിൾ പദ്ധതിയിടുന്നുണ്ട്. ഉപയോക്താക്കൾക്ക് ഇത് പരീക്ഷിച്ചുനോക്കാനുള്ള ഷോപ്പുകളും ഗൂഗിൾ പ്ലാൻ ചെയ്യുന്നുണ്ട്.[9] കണ്ണട ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നവർക്ക് എക്സ്പോറർ എഡിഷൻ ഉപയോഗിക്കാൻ സാധിക്കില്ല. ഭാവിയിൽ ഉപയോക്താവിന്റെ കണ്ണിനനുസരിച്ചുള്ള പവറുള്ള ലെൻസും ഇതിൽ ഉപയോഗിക്കാനാവും എന്ന് ഗൂഗിൾ വ്യക്തമാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. സാധാരണ ലെൻസുകൾ ഘടിപ്പിക്കാൻ സാധിക്കുന്ന തരം മോഡ്യുലാർ ഡിസൈനായിരിക്കും ഗ്ലാസുകൾക്കുണ്ടാവുക.[13]
ഗൂഗിൾ എക്സ് ആണ് ഗ്ലാസ് വികസിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്.[14] ഡ്രൈവറില്ലാത്ത കാർ പോലെയുള്ള പദ്ധതികളും ഗൂഗിൾ എക്സിനു കീഴിലാണ്. പ്രൊജക്സ്റ്റ് ഗ്ലാസിന്റെ രൂപഘടന ഗൂഗിൾ പേറ്റന്റ് ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്.[15][16]
2014 മെയ് 15-ന് പൊതുജനങ്ങൾക്ക് ലഭ്യമാകുന്നതിന് മുമ്പ്, 2013 ഏപ്രിൽ 15-ന് യുഎസിലെ യോഗ്യരായ "ഗ്ലാസ് എക്‌സ്‌പ്ലോറർമാർക്ക്" ഗൂഗിൾ ഗ്ലാസിന്റെ ഒരു പ്രോട്ടോടൈപ്പ് 1,500 ഡോളറിന് വിൽക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങി.[17] ഇതിന് 5 മെഗാപിക്സൽ സ്റ്റിൽ/720p വീഡിയോ ക്യാമറ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. നിലവിലുള്ള സ്വകാര്യതാ നിയമങ്ങൾ ലംഘിക്കപ്പെടുമെന്ന ആശങ്കകൾക്കിടയിലാണ് ഹെഡ്‌സെറ്റിന് വലിയ വിമർശനം നേരിടേണ്ടി വന്നത്.[18]
