ഒരു കോണിഫെർ സസ്യമായ ടാക്സസ് ബക്കാട്ട പാശ്ചാത്യ, മദ്ധ്യ, തെക്കൻ യൂറോപ്പ്, വടക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറൻ ആഫ്രിക്ക, വടക്കൻ ഇറാൻ, തെക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറൻ ഏഷ്യ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലെ തദ്ദേശവാസിയാണ്.[3] യഥാർത്ഥത്തിൽ യ്യൂ (yew) എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ഈ സസ്യം ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് യ്യൂ [4] അല്ലെങ്കിൽ യൂറോപ്യൻ യ്യൂ എന്നും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു.
