ഇരുമുള്ളി
ഏഴ് മീറ്ററോളം ഉയരം വയ്ക്കുന്ന, തടിയിൽ കടുപ്പമേറിയ മുള്ളുകളുള്ള ഒരു ചെറിയ വൃക്ഷമാണ് ഇരുമുള്ളി. (ശാസ്ത്രീയനാമം: scleropyrum pentandrum). 600 മുതൽ 1600 മീറ്റർ വരെ ഉയരമുള്ള അർദ്ധ-നിത്യഹരിതവനങ്ങളിൽ കാണുന്നു. പലപേരുകളിലും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു[1]. കായകൾ ഭക്ഷ്യയോഗ്യമാണ്. കുരുവിൽ 67% ത്തോളം എണ്ണ അടങ്ങിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഇത് സോപ്പുണ്ടാക്കാനും ഘർഷണം കുറയ്ക്കാനുള്ള എണ്ണയായും ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു[2]. കണ്ണൂരിലെ കുറിച്യസമുദായത്തിൽ പെട്ടവർ ഇരുമുള്ളിയുടെ വേര് ചതച്ച് വയറുവേദനയ്ക്ക് ഔഷധമായി ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു. അവർ ഈ മരത്തിനെ മലയമ്മച്ചി എന്നു വിളിക്കുന്നു[3]. തമിഴ്‌നാട്ടിലെ തിരുനെൽവേലിയിലെ ആദിവാസികൾ ഇലയരച്ച് ത്വഗ്രോഗങ്ങൾക്ക് ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു[4].

1838 -ലാണ് ആദ്യമായി ഈ ജനുസിനെ വിവരിക്കുന്നത്. [5][6] (2014 സെപ്തംബർ വരെയുള്ള അറിവു വച്ച്) ഈ ജനുസിൽ ഈ ഒരു സ്പീഷിസ് മാത്രമേയുള്ളൂ.[7][8][9]
