റെഡ് ഹാറ്റ് എന്റർപ്രൈസ് ലിനക്സ് അടിസ്ഥാനമാക്കി ക്മ്യൂണിറ്റി നിർമ്മിക്കുന്ന ഓപ്പറേറ്റിംഗ് സിസ്റ്റമാണ് സെന്റ് ഒ.എസ്. സ്വതന്ത്രമായ എന്റർപ്രൈസ് ഓപ്പറേറ്റിംഗ് സിസ്റ്റം നിർമ്മിക്കുക എന്ന ലക്ഷ്യത്തോടെയാണ് സെന്റ് ഒ.എസ്. നിർമ്മിക്കുന്നത്. കമ്മ്യൂണിറ്റി എന്റർപ്രൈസ് ഓപ്പറേറ്റിംഗ് സിസ്റ്റം(Community ENTerprise Operating System) എന്നതിന്റെ ചുരുക്കരൂപമാണ് സെന്റ് ഒഎസ്. ഇന്ന് ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന ലിനക്സ് സെർവ്വറുകളിൽ മുപ്പത് ശതമാനവും[അവലംബം ആവശ്യമാണ്] സെന്റ് ഒഎസിലാണ് പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നത്.

റെഡ് ഹാറ്റ് എന്റർപ്രൈസ് ലിനക്സ് പണം കൊടുത്തുള്ള ഒരു സബ്സ്ക്രിപ്ഷൻ വഴിയാണ് ലഭ്യമാകുന്നത്. വിവിധ തരത്തിൽ സാങ്കേതിക സഹായം ഉപയോക്താക്കൾക്ക് റെഡ്ഹാറ്റ് ലഭ്യമാക്കുന്ന. സെന്റ് ഒഎസ് ഡെവലപ്പഴേസ് റെഡ്ഹാറ്റ് എന്റർപ്രൈസ് ലിനക്സിന്റെ സോഴ്സ് കോഡ് ആണ് ഉപയോഗിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. ഇതു മൂലം റെഡ്ഹാറ്റ് എന്റർപ്രൈസ് ലിനക്സിനോട് നല്ല സാമ്യം കാണാവുന്നതാണ്. സെന്റ് ഒഎസ് സൌജന്യമായി ലഭിക്കുന്നതാണ്. സാങ്കേതിക സഹായം ലഭ്യമാകുന്നത് സെന്റ് ഒഎസ് കൂട്ടായ്മ വഴിയാണ്.
