ഒരു പ്രമുഖ സ്വഹാബിയും നബിയുടെ അടുത്ത കൂട്ടുകാരനുമായിരുന്നു അമ്മാർ ഇബ്നു യാസിർ (ഇംഗ്ലീഷ്: Ammār ibn Yāsir ibn ʿĀmir ibn Mālik Abū al-Yaqzān, അറബി: عمار بن یاسر) [3][4][5][6][7] ഇസ്‌ലാമികചരിത്രത്തിൽ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കുടുംബം യാസിർ കുടുംബം എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്നു[8]. അലിയുടെ പക്ഷത്ത് നിന്ന് പോരാടിയ അദ്ദേഹം സിഫ്ഫീൻ യുദ്ധത്തിൽ മരണപ്പെട്ടു[9]

ബനൂ മഖ്സൂം ഗോത്രത്തിൽ 570-ൽ ജനനം. യെമനിലെ ഖഹ്താൻ ഗോത്രത്തിൽ നിന്നും മക്കയിൽ താമസമാക്കിയ യാസിർ ബിൻ ആമിർ, മക്കയിലെ അടിമസ്ത്രീയായിരുന്ന സുമയ്യയെ വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചു. ഇവരുടെ മകനായ അമ്മാർ, മാതാപിതാക്കളോടൊപ്പം അബൂഹുദൈഫയുടെ അടിമകളായിരുന്നു. അബൂഹുദൈഫയുടെ മരണത്തോടെ അബൂജഹലിന്റെ കീഴിലായിരുന്നു ഇവർ. മുഹമ്മദ് നബിയെ അടുത്തറിയുന്ന അമ്മാർ ആദ്യകാല വിശ്വാസികളിൽ തന്നെ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു[10][11]
