വാൽതർ രത്തനൗ (29 സെപ്റ്റംബർ 1867 - 24 ജൂൺ 1922) ഒരു ജർമ്മൻ വ്യവസായി, എഴുത്തുകാരൻ, ലിബറൽ രാഷ്ട്രീയക്കാരൻ എന്നിവയായിരുന്നു.

ഒന്നാം ലോകമഹായുദ്ധസമയത്ത് ജർമ്മൻ യുദ്ധ സമ്പദ്‌വ്യവസ്ഥയുടെ സംഘടനയിൽ അദ്ദേഹം പങ്കാളിയായിരുന്നു. യുദ്ധാനന്തരം രത്തനൗ ജർമ്മൻ വിദേശകാര്യ മന്ത്രിയായി വെയ്മർ റിപ്പബ്ലിക്കിൽ സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിച്ചു. സോവിയറ്റ് റഷ്യയുമായി വ്യാപാരം നടത്തുന്നതിൽ വലിയ തടസ്സങ്ങൾ നീക്കിയ റപല്ലോ ഉടമ്പടിക്ക് തുടക്കമിട്ടു. റഷ്യ ഇതിനകം ജർമ്മനിയുടെ രഹസ്യ പുനരധിവാസ പരിപാടിക്ക് സഹായിച്ചെങ്കിലും, വലതുപക്ഷ ദേശീയവാദി ഗ്രൂപ്പുകൾ രത്തനൗവിനെ ഒരു വിപ്ലവകാരിയായി മുദ്രകുത്തി. അദ്ദേഹം സോവിയറ്റ് രീതികളെ തുറന്നുകാട്ടുന്ന തീക്ഷ്‌ണത കുറഞ്ഞ പുരോഗമനവാദിയും ആയിരുന്നു. വിജയകരമായ ഒരു യഹൂദ വ്യവസായിയെന്ന നിലയിലും അവർ നീരസപ്പെട്ടു.
മുൻകാലജീവിതം തിരുത്തുക
രത്തനൗ ബെർലിനിൽ ജനിച്ചു. എമിൽ രത്തനൗവും മതിൽഡെ നഖ്മണും ആയിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മാതാപിതാക്കൾ.[1]അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പിതാവ് പ്രമുഖ ജൂത വ്യവസായിയും ഇലക്ട്രിക്കൽ എഞ്ചിനീയറിങ് കമ്പനിയായ എലക്ട്രിസിറ്ററ്റ്സ്-ഗെസെൽഷാഫിന്റെ സ്ഥാപകനുമായിരുന്നു.
ബെർലിൻ, സ്ട്രാസ്ബർഗ്ഗ് എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലെ ഭൗതികശാസ്ത്രം, രസതന്ത്രം, തത്ത്വശാസ്ത്രം എന്നിവ പഠിച്ച അദ്ദേഹം 1889-ൽ ആഗസ്റ്റ് കുണ്ടറ്റിനു കീഴിൽ പഠനം നടത്തി ഭൗതികശാസ്ത്രത്തിൽ ഡോക്ടറേറ്റ് കരസ്ഥമാക്കി.[2]
