വരി എരണ്ട
വരി എരണ്ടയുടെ[2] [3][4][5] ശാസ്ത്രീയ നാമം Anas querquedula എന്നും ഇംഗ്ലീഷിലെ പേര് Garganey, Blue winged Teal എന്നുമാണ്. വരിഎരണ്ട യൂറോപ്പിലും പശ്ചിമഏഷ്യയിലും പ്രജനനം നടത്തുന്നു. മുഴുവൻ പക്ഷികളും തണുപ്പുകാലത്ത് ഇന്ത്യ, തെക്കേ ആഫ്രിക്ക, ആസ്ത്രേലിയ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലേക്ക് ദേശാടനനം നടത്തുന്നു. ഈ വർഗ്ഗ ത്തെ ഇന്നത്തെ ശാസ്ത്രീയ നാമത്തിൽ ആദ്യമായി വിവരിച്ചത് 1758ൽ Linnaeus ആണ്. ഇവയ്ക്ക് വെള്ളത്തിൽ നിന്ന് പെട്ടെന്നു പറന്നു പൊങ്ങാൻ കഴിയും. •

രൂപവിവരണം
തിരുത്തുകആൺപകക്ഷിയെ തിരിച്ചറിയാൻ ഏളുപ്പമാണ്. തവിടുനിറത്തിലുള്ള തലയും മാറിടവും വെളുത്ത പുരികവും ഇവയുടെ പ്രത്യേകതയാണ്. മറ്റുള്ള ഭാഗങ്ങളൊക്കെ ചാരനിറമ്മാണ്. പറക്കുമ്പോൾ ഇളം നീല നിറത്തിൽ വെള്ള അരികുകളോടു കൂടിയ പക്ഷിപതാക കാണാം. കൊക്കും കാലുകളും ചാരനിറമാണ്. മുഖം ചുവപ്പുകലർന്ന തവിട്ടുനിറമാണ്.
ഭക്ഷണം
തിരുത്തുകവെള്ളത്തിനുമുകളിൽ ഭക്ഷണം തേടുന്നവയാണ്. ജലസസ്യങ്ങളും, വേരും, വിത്തും, ചെടികളും ഒക്കെയാണ് ഭക്ഷണം .[6]
