വരയൻ ചിലപ്പൻ
വരയൻ ചിലപ്പന് ഇംഗ്ലീഷിൽ Common Babbler എന്നാണ് പേര്. ശാസ്ത്രീയ നാമം Turdoides caudata എന്നാണ്. ഇന്ത്യയിൽ വരണ്ട പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലെ കുറ്റിച്ചെടികൾക്കിടയിൽ കാണുന്നു.

ചെറിയ, വണം കുറഞ്ഞ വലിയ വാലുള്ള പക്ഷിയാണ്. മുകൾ വശം ഇരുണ്ട വരകളുള്ള മങ്ങിയ മഞ്ഞ നിറം തൊട്ട് ചാരനിറം വരെയാണ്. അടിവശം വരകളില്ലാതെ മങ്ങിയതാണ്. കഴുത്ത് വെള്ളയാണ്.
6-20 വരെയുള്ള കൂട്ടങ്ങളായി കാണുന്നു. തറയിൽ നടക്കുമ്പോൾ വാൽ ഉയർത്തിപ്പിടിച്ചിരിക്കും..[2]
പ്രജനനംതിരുത്തുക
ഇവ ആഴം കുറഞ്ഞ കോപ്പ പോലെയുള്ള കൂട് ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നു. മെയ് മുതൽ ജൂലായ് വരെയാണ് പ്രജനന കാലം. 2-3 ടർകോയ്സ് നീല മുട്ടകളിടും. 13-15 മുട്ടകളിടും. കുയിൽ ചിലപ്പോൾ ഇവയുടെ കൂട്ടിൽ മുട്ടയിടാറുണ്ട്. കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങൾ ഒരാഴ്ചകൊണ്ട് പറക്കാറാകും. കുട്ടികൾ ഇതേ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ തന്നെ ചേരും.[3]കൂട്ടത്തിലെ ഇളയവർ സഹായികളായി കുടുണ്ടാക്കാനും അടയിരിക്കുന്ന പഹ്സിയ്കും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങൾക്ക് തീറ്റ കൊടുക്കാനും സഹായിക്കും..[4]
