ബ്യുവേറിയ ബസിയാന
മണ്ണിൽ പ്രകൃതിദത്തമായി വളരുന്ന ഒരു ഫംഗസ് ആണ് ബ്യുവേറിയ ബസിയാന (Beauveria bassiana). ഇത് ആർത്രോപോഡ സ്പീഷിസുകളുടെ മേൽ പരാദമായി വളർന്ന് അവയെ നശിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനാൾ ഒരു എന്റെമോപാതോജനിക് ഫംഗസ് ആണ്. ചിതൽ, ഇലപ്പേൻ, വെള്ളീച്ച, എഫിഡ്, വണ്ടുകൾ, മൂട്ട തുടങ്ങിയ ഷഡ്പദങ്ങളെ നശിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിന് ഇതിന് സാധിക്കും. ഇല തീനിപ്പുഴുക്കൾ, ഇലപ്പേൻ എന്നിവയെ നിയന്ത്രിക്കുന്നതിനും പ്രയോജനപ്പെടുത്താം.[1] മലേറിയ പരത്തുന്ന കൊതുകുകളെ ബ്യൂവേറിയ ഉപയോഗിച്ച് നിയന്ത്രിക്കാമോ എന്ന പഠനം നടക്കുന്നുണ്ട്.[2]

ഇറ്റാലിയൻ എന്റമോളജിസ്റ്റ് അഗസ്റ്റിനോ ബസ്സിയാണ് 1815 ൽ ഈ സ്പീഷീസിനെ കണ്ടെത്തിയത്. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പേരിനെ ഓർമ്മിപ്പിക്കുന്നതാണ് 'ബ്യുവേറിയ ബസിയാന' എന്നത്.[3][4]
ജൈവിക കീടനിയന്ത്രണംതിരുത്തുക
ബ്യുവേറിയ ബസിയാന ഷഡ്പദങ്ങളിൽ രോഗബാധയ്ക്ക് കാരണമാകുന്നു. ഇത് white muscardine disease എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. ഫംഗസിന്റെ രേണുക്കൾ ഷഡ്പദങ്ങളുടെ ശരീരവുമായി സമ്പർക്കത്തിലാവുമ്പോൾ മുളയ്ക്കുന്നു. ഇത് ജീവിയുടെ പുറംതോട് തുളച്ച് അകത്ത് പ്രവേശിക്കുകയും വളരുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. ഇതിന്റെ ഫലമായി ഏതാനും ദിവസങ്ങൾക്കുള്ളിൽ ഷഡ്പദം നശിക്കുന്നു. ഇതിൽനന്നും കൂടുതൽ രേണുക്കൾ ഉണ്ടാവുകയും പടരുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. പല തരത്തിലുള്ള കീടങ്ങളെ ഒരേ പോലെ ഈ ഫംഗസ് നശിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.
