ചെറിയ കടലാളയ്ക്ക് ആംഗലത്തിൽ lesser crested tern എന്നാണു പേര്. ശാസ്ത്രീയ നാമം Thalasseus bengalensis, Sterna bengalensis എന്നൊക്കെയാണ്

ഇവ ചെങ്കടൽ മുതൽ ഇന്ത്യൻ മഹാസമുദ്രം വഴിപടിഞ്ഞാറൻ പസിഫിക് വരെ തീരങ്ങളിളിലും ആസ്ത്രേലിയ യിലും പ്രജനനം നടത്തുന്നു. ഇവയ്ക്ക് പല ദേശങ്ങളിലും ഉപ വിഭാഗങ്ങളുണ്ട്.
രൂപ വിവരണം തിരുത്തുക
വേനലിൽ ഉച്ചി കറുപ്പും കറുത്ത കാലും നീണ്ടമൂർച്ചയുള്ള ഓറഞ്ച് കൊക്കും ഉണ്ടാവും. ചിറകിന്റെ മുകൾ ഭാഗം , മുതുക്, വാലിന്റെ മദ്ധ്യ ഭാഗം എന്നിവ ചാര നിറമാണ്. അടിവശം വെള്ളയാണ്.തണുപ്പുകാലത്ത് നെറ്റിയ്ക്ക് വെളുപ്പു നിറമാകും. പറക്കുമ്പോൾ മുതുകിലെ ചാര നിറം മറ്റുള്ളവയിൽ നിന്നും ഇവയെ തിരിച്ചറിയാൻ സഹായിക്കും.കടലുണ്ടി ആള യ്ക്ക് മഞ്ഞ അറ്റമുള്ള കറുത്ത കൊക്കാണ് ഉള്ളത്.വലിയ കടലാളയ്ക്കും ഓറഞ്ച് നിറത്തിലുള്ള കൊക്കുണ്ട്.
ഭക്ഷണം തിരുത്തുക
ജലജീവികളാണ് ഭക്ഷണം. പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് മത്സ്യം.ഇവയ്ക്ക് നീന്താനാവില്ല. വായുവിൽ നിന്ന് ഊളയിട്ടാണ് ഇര പിടിക്കുന്നത്.
