ചെഞ്ചിലപ്പൻ
ചെഞ്ചിലപ്പനെ ഇംഗ്ലീഷിൽ Rufous Babbler എന്നാണു പേര്, ശാസ്ത്രീയ നാമം Turdoides subrufa എന്നാണ്. ഇവ പശ്ചിമഘട്ടത്തിലെ എക്കേ ഇന്ത്യൻ ഭാഗത്തെ തദ്ദേശ ഇനമാണ്. കടുത്ത തവിട്ടു നിറത്തിലുള്ള ഇവയ്ക്ക് നീണ്ട വാലുണ്ട്.

വിവരണംതിരുത്തുക
ഇതൊരു വലിയ കരിയിലക്കിളിയാണ്. കടുത്ത ഒലീവ്-തവിട്ടു നിറത്തിലുള്ള പുറകുവശവും ചാരനിറത്തിലുള്ള നെറ്റിയുമുണ്ട്. കണ്ണുകൾ മങ്ങിയ വെള്ളയോ മഞ്ഞയോ ആണ്. പരക്കൽ തൂവലുകൾക്ക് ചെമ്പിച്ച രാശിയുണ്ട്. അടിവശം നല്ല ചെമ്പിച്ച നിറം. വയറും കഴുത്തിന്റെ നടുവശവും മങ്ങിയ ചെമ്പിച്ച നിറം. [2] They are 25–26 cm long with a wing of 8.7-9.0 cm. The tail is about 11-11.5 cm long.[3][4][5]

പശ്ചിമഘട്ടത്തിൽ മഹാബലേശ്വറിന് തെക്ക് കാണുന്നു. നിലത്താണ് ഇവയെ കൂടുതൽ കാണുന്നത്. പ്രാണികളും ചെറുപഴങ്ങളുമാണ് പ്രധാന ഭക്ഷണം.[2]
പ്രജനനംതിരുത്തുക
പ്രജനനകലം ഫെബ്രുവരി തൊട്ട് നവംബർ വരെയാണ്. മരത്തിന്റെ കവരങ്ങൾക്കിടയിൽ കോപ്പപോലുള്ള കൂടാണ് ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നത്. തിളങ്ങുന്ന കടുത്ത നീല നിറത്തിലുള്ള 2-4 മുട്ടകൾ ഇടും. [3]
