കേരളത്തിൽ വിരളമായി കാണപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു ചിത്രശലഭമാണ് കരിമ്പരപ്പൻ അഥവാ black angle - (Tapena thwaitesi).^[4]^[5]^[3]^[6]^[7]^[8] കർണ്ണാടകത്തിൽ ഇവ ഒരു സാധാരണ ശലഭമാണ്. മഴക്കാടുകളും ഇലപൊഴിയും കാടുകളുമാണ് ഇവയുടെ ആവാസകേന്ദ്രങ്ങൾ. കാട്ടരുവിയുടെ തീരത്താണ് ഇവയെ കൂടുതലായി കാണാനാവുക. Tapena ജനുസിലെ ഏകസ്പീഷിസ് ആണിത്.
