തിരുത്തുകഈ ജില്ലയുടെ വടക്ക് ആന്ധ്രപ്രദേശ്‌ സംസ്ഥാനവും കിഴക്ക് ബംഗാൾ ഉൾക്കടലും തെക്കുകിഴക്കായി ചെന്നൈ ജില്ലയും തെക്ക് കാഞ്ചിപുരം ജില്ലയും പടിഞ്ഞാറ് വെല്ലൂർ ജില്ലയും സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നു.
ജനസംഖ്യ
തിരുത്തുകഈ ജില്ലയുടെ വിസ്തീർണ്ണം 3424 ചതുരശ്ര കിലോമീറ്ററാണ് .2001 ലെ കാനേഷുമാരി പ്രകാരം 2,754,756 ആണ് ജനസംഖ്യ. ഇവരിൽ 54.45 ശതമാനം പേർ നഗര വാസികളാണ്. ജില്ലയിലെ സാക്ഷരത 76.90 ശതമാനമാണ്. ഇത് തമിഴ്നാട്ടിലെ സംസ്ഥാനശരാശരിയേക്കാൾ കൂടുതലാണ്.
