1759-ൽ കാൾ ലിന്നേയസ്, അമറില്ലിസ് റെജീനി എന്ന് വിശേഷിപ്പിച്ചു ഈ ജനുസ്സിലെ ഒരേ ഒരു ഇനമായിരുന്നു ഇത് . വില്യം ഹെർബർട്ട് ഇതിനെ ഹിപ്പിയസ്ട്രമിലേക്ക് മാറ്റി.[4]
