ഗ്രബ്ബീയസീ എന്ന പുഷ്പിക്കുന്ന സസ്യ കുടുംബത്തിലെ ഒരു ജീനസ് ആണ് ഗ്രബ്ബിയ.[1] ദക്ഷിണാഫ്രിക്കയിലെ ഫ്ലോരിസ്റ്റിൿ മുനമ്പിനോട് തദ്ദേശീയതയുള്ള മൂന്ന് ഇനങ്ങളാണ് ഈ ജനുസ്സിലുള്ളത്.[2] അവ 1.5 m (4.9 ft) മീറ്റർ വരെ ഉയരമുള്ളതും ചെറിയ മൃദുവായ തൂവൽ പോലുള്ള ഇലകൾ ഉള്ളതുമാണ്.[3] ഫലം ഒരു സംയുക്തഫലം ആണ്

1767-ൽ പീറ്റർ ജോൺസ് ബെർഗിയസ് (Peter Jonas Bergius) ആണ് ഗ്രബ്ബിയ എന്ന് നാമകരണം ചെയ്യുകയും Kongliga Vetenskaps Academiens Handlingar എന്ന ശീർഷകത്തോടെ സ്വീഡിഷ് സൈന്റിഫിക് ജേർണലിൽ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. [4] ഈ പേർ പ്രശസ്ത സ്വീഡിഷ് സസ്യശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനായ മൈക്കൽ ഗ്രബ്ബിന്റെ ഓർമ്മയ്ക്കാണ് നൽകപ്പെട്ടത്. [5]
