ആർത്തവ രക്തപ്രവാഹത്തിന്റെ തടസ്സത്തിലേക്ക് നയിക്കുന്ന ഒന്നിലധികം ഘടകങ്ങൾ കാരണം ആർത്തവ രക്തത്തിൽ യോനി മുങ്ങിയ ഒരു മെഡിക്കൽ അവസ്ഥയാണ് ഹെമറ്റോകോൾപോസ്. ഹെമറ്റോകോൾപോസിന്റെ മെഡിക്കൽ നിർവചനം 'യോനിയിലെ രക്തം ശേഖരണം' എന്നാണ്. ഇംപെർഫൊറേറ്റ് ഹൈമൻ ആർത്തവവുമായി സംയോജിച്ചാണ് ഇത് പലപ്പോഴും സംഭവിക്കുന്നത്.
