ഒരു ഉഗാണ്ടൻ കാലാവസ്ഥാ നീതി പ്രവർത്തകയാണ് വനേസ നകേറ്റ് (ജനനം 15 നവംബർ 1996) .[1] കമ്പാലയിൽ വളർന്ന അവർ 2018 ഡിസംബറിൽ തന്റെ രാജ്യത്തെ അസാധാരണമാംവിധം ഉയർന്ന താപനിലയെക്കുറിച്ച് ആശങ്കാകുലയായ ശേഷം ഒരു സെലിബ്രിറ്റിയായി.[2]

ഉഗാണ്ടൻ തലസ്ഥാനമായ കമ്പാല പരിസരത്താണ് നകേറ്റ് വളർന്നത്.[3] മേക്കറെർ യൂണിവേഴ്‌സിറ്റി ബിസിനസ് സ്‌കൂളിൽ നിന്ന് മാർക്കറ്റിംഗിൽ ബിസിനസ് അഡ്മിനിസ്ട്രേഷനിൽ ബിരുദം നേടി.[4]

കാലാവസ്ഥയ്ക്ക് വേണ്ടിയുള്ള പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ തിരുത്തുക

ഉഗാണ്ടയിൽ സ്വന്തമായി കാലാവസ്ഥാ പ്രസ്ഥാനം ആരംഭിക്കാൻ ഗ്രേറ്റ തൻബെർഗിൽ നിന്ന് പ്രചോദനം ഉൾക്കൊണ്ട്, കാലാവസ്ഥാ പ്രതിസന്ധിയിൽ നിഷ്‌ക്രിയത്വത്തിനെതിരെ 2019 ജനുവരിയിൽ നകേറ്റ് ഒറ്റയ്ക്ക് സമരം ആരംഭിച്ചു.[5] മാസങ്ങളോളം അവർ ഉഗാണ്ട പാർലമെന്റിന്റെ കവാടത്തിന് പുറത്ത് ഏക പ്രതിഷേധക്കാരിയായിരുന്നു.[4]ഒടുവിൽ, കോംഗോളിയൻ മഴക്കാടുകളുടെ ദുരവസ്ഥയിലേക്ക് ശ്രദ്ധ ആകർഷിക്കാൻ മറ്റുള്ളവരെ സഹായിക്കാനുള്ള സോഷ്യൽ മീഡിയയിലെ അവരുടെ കോളുകളോട് മറ്റ് യുവാക്കൾ പ്രതികരിക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങി.[6] നകേറ്റ് യൂത്ത് ഫോർ ഫ്യൂച്ചർ ആഫ്രിക്കയും അതുപോലെ ആഫ്രിക്ക ആസ്ഥാനമായുള്ള റൈസ് അപ്പ് മൂവ്‌മെന്റും സ്ഥാപിച്ചു.[7]

2019 ഡിസംബറിൽ, സ്‌പെയിനിൽ നടന്ന COP25 സമ്മേളനത്തിൽ സംസാരിച്ച ഏതാനും യുവാക്കളുടെ പ്രവർത്തകരിൽ ഒരാളായിരുന്നു നകേറ്റ്.[8]

2020 ജനുവരി ആദ്യം, ദാവോസിൽ നടന്ന വേൾഡ് ഇക്കണോമിക് ഫോറത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുത്തവർക്ക് ഒരു കത്ത് പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കാൻ ലോകമെമ്പാടുമുള്ള മറ്റ് 20 ഓളം യുവ കാലാവസ്ഥാ പ്രവർത്തകരുമായി അവർ ചേർന്നു. ഫോസിൽ ഇന്ധനങ്ങൾക്ക് സബ്‌സിഡി നൽകുന്നത് ഉടൻ നിർത്താൻ കമ്പനികളോടും ബാങ്കുകളോടും സർക്കാരുകളോടും ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു.[9] വേൾഡ് എക്കണോമിക് ഫോറത്തിൽ അവരോടൊപ്പം ദാവോസിൽ ക്യാമ്പ് ചെയ്യാൻ ആർട്ടിക് ബേസ് ക്യാമ്പ് ക്ഷണിച്ച അഞ്ച് അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര പ്രതിനിധികളിൽ ഒരാളായിരുന്നു അവർ. പ്രതിനിധികൾ പിന്നീട് ഫോറത്തിന്റെ അവസാന ദിവസം കാലാവസ്ഥാ മാർച്ചിൽ ചേർന്നു.[10]

2020 ഒക്ടോബറിൽ, ഡെസ്മണ്ട് ടുട്ടു ഇന്റർനാഷണൽ പീസ് ലെക്ചറിൽ നകേറ്റ് ഒരു പ്രസംഗം നടത്തി. "ഉണർന്ന്" കാലാവസ്ഥാ വ്യതിയാനത്തെ ഒരു പ്രതിസന്ധിയായി അംഗീകരിക്കാൻ ലോക നേതാക്കളോട് അഭ്യർത്ഥിച്ചു. ദാരിദ്ര്യം, പട്ടിണി, രോഗം, സംഘർഷം, സ്ത്രീകൾക്കും പെൺകുട്ടികൾക്കും എതിരായ അക്രമം എന്നിവയുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെടുത്തി. “കാലാവസ്ഥാ വ്യതിയാനം നമ്മുടെ ജീവിതത്തിന്റെ എല്ലാ മേഖലകളെയും ബാധിക്കുന്ന ഒരു പേടിസ്വപ്നമാണ്.” അവർ പറഞ്ഞു. "ഈ പ്രതിസന്ധിയെ നോക്കാതെ നമുക്ക് എങ്ങനെ ദാരിദ്ര്യം തുടച്ചുനീക്കാൻ കഴിയും? കാലാവസ്ഥാ വ്യതിയാനം ദശലക്ഷക്കണക്കിന് ആളുകളെ ഭക്ഷിക്കാൻ ഒന്നുമില്ലാതെ അവശേഷിപ്പിക്കുമ്പോൾ നമുക്ക് എങ്ങനെ വിശപ്പില്ല? .) ഇതിനെക്കുറിച്ച് ഒന്നും ചെയ്തില്ലെങ്കിൽ." നേതാക്കളോട് “അവരുടെ കംഫർട്ട് സോണുകൾ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ച് ഞങ്ങൾ നേരിടുന്ന അപകടത്തെ കാണാനും അതിനെക്കുറിച്ച് എന്തെങ്കിലും ചെയ്യാനും അവർ ആഹ്വാനം ചെയ്തു. ഇത് ജീവിതത്തിന്റെയും മരണത്തിന്റെയും പ്രശ്നമാണ്."[11]

ഉഗാണ്ടയിലെ സ്‌കൂളുകളെ സൗരോർജ്ജത്തിലേക്ക് മാറ്റാനും ഈ സ്‌കൂളുകളിൽ പരിസ്ഥിതി സൗഹൃദ സ്റ്റൗവുകൾ സ്ഥാപിക്കാനും ലക്ഷ്യമിട്ടുള്ള ഒരു പുനരുപയോഗ ഊർജ സംരംഭമായ ഗ്രീൻ സ്‌കൂൾസ് പ്രോജക്റ്റ് നകേറ്റ് ആരംഭിച്ചു.[12] നിലവിൽ ആറ് സ്‌കൂളുകളിൽ പ്രോജക്ട് ഇൻസ്റ്റാളേഷൻ നടത്തി.[13]

കാലാവസ്ഥാ നീതി പ്രസ്ഥാനത്തിലെ ആഫ്രിക്കൻ ശബ്ദങ്ങളുടെ ശക്തിയെയും പ്രാധാന്യത്തെയും കുറിച്ച് ടൈം മാഗസിൻ ആതിഥേയത്വം വഹിച്ച ആഞ്ജലീന ജോളി 2020 ജൂലൈ 9 ന് വനേസ നകേറ്റിനെ അഭിമുഖം നടത്തി.[14] ഓഗസ്റ്റിൽ, ജീൻ അഫ്രിക് മാഗസിൻ അവളെ ഏറ്റവും സ്വാധീനമുള്ള 100 ആഫ്രിക്കക്കാരിൽ ഒരാളായി തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു.[15] 2020 ഓഗസ്റ്റിൽ, കാലാവസ്ഥാ ആക്ടിവിസം ചർച്ച ചെയ്യാൻ ഫോറം അൽബാക്കിൽ മുൻ യുഎൻ സെക്രട്ടറി ജനറൽ ബാൻ കി മൂണുമായി വനേസ നകേറ്റ് ചേർന്നു.

സെപ്റ്റംബറിൽ, വേൾഡ് റിസോഴ്‌സ് ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ടിനായി "സ്പാർക്കിംഗ് ആൻ എറ ഓഫ് ട്രാൻസ്ഫോർമേഷൻ ക്ലൈമറ്റ് ലീഡർഷിപ്പ്" എന്ന തലക്കെട്ടിൽ വനേസ സംസാരിച്ചു. ഓക്‌സ്‌ഫാമിനായുള്ള "കാലാവസ്ഥാ വ്യതിയാനങ്ങളുമായുള്ള സംഭാഷണങ്ങളിൽ" അവൾ തന്റെ കാഴ്ചപ്പാടിനെക്കുറിച്ച് സംസാരിച്ചു.[16] 2020-ൽ SDG 13-ന്റെ യുവ നേതാവായി വനേസ നകേറ്റിനെ ഐക്യരാഷ്ട്രസഭ പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു.[17][18]വനിതാ ചരിത്ര മാസത്തിൽ പ്രവാസികൾക്കിടയിലെ മികവുറ്റ 100 വനിതകൾക്ക് ആദരാഞ്ജലികൾ അർപ്പിക്കാനുള്ള ഒരു പ്രത്യേക പ്ലാറ്റ്‌ഫോമാണ് ഓകെ ആഫ്രിക്കയുടെ 100 സ്ത്രീകളിൽ നകേറ്റ് ഇടംപിടിച്ചത്.[19] 2020-ൽ യൂത്ത്‌ലീഡ് ഏറ്റവും സ്വാധീനമുള്ള ആഫ്രിക്കൻ യുവാക്കളുടെ പട്ടികയിൽ നകേറ്റിനെ പരാമർശിച്ചു. [20]2021 മാർച്ച് 16-ന് നടന്ന ബെർലിൻ എനർജി ട്രാൻസിഷൻ ഡയലോഗ് 2021-ൽ മറ്റ് പ്രമുഖ ലോക നേതാക്കൾക്കൊപ്പം നകേറ്റ് ഒരു മുഖ്യ പ്രഭാഷകനായിരുന്നു.[21][22] ക്ഷണിക്കപ്പെട്ട മറ്റ് സ്പീക്കറുകൾക്ക് ബാധകമല്ലാത്ത യുവ കാലാവസ്ഥാ പ്രവർത്തകരിൽ നിന്നുള്ള ഇൻപുട്ട് സ്‌ക്രീൻ ചെയ്യുന്നതിന് സംഘാടകർ എന്ന നിലയിൽ ജർമ്മൻ ഫെഡറൽ ഫോറിൻ ഓഫീസിന്റെ വിമർശനം അവളുടെ ഡെലിവറിയിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു.[23]

2021 ഒക്ടോബറിൽ ദി ഗാർഡിയനിൽ എഴുതുമ്പോൾ, ഹരിതഗൃഹ ഉദ്‌വമനത്തിന് വലിയ തോതിൽ ഉത്തരവാദികളായ രാജ്യങ്ങളും കോർപ്പറേഷനുകളും ആഫ്രിക്കൻ രാജ്യങ്ങൾക്കും സമൂഹങ്ങൾക്കും കാലാവസ്ഥാ വ്യതിയാനം മൂലമുണ്ടാകുന്ന നഷ്ടത്തിനും നാശത്തിനും നഷ്ടപരിഹാരം നൽകണമെന്ന് നകേറ്റ് വാദിക്കുന്നു.[24]
