ലില്ലി ഇസബെൽ തോമസ് (5 മാർച്ച് 1928 - 10 ഡിസംബർ 2019) [4] ഇന്ത്യയുടെ സുപ്രീം കോടതിയിലും പ്രാദേശിക കോടതികളിലും ഹർജികൾ ഫയൽ ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ട് നിലവിലുള്ള നിയമങ്ങൾ മെച്ചപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതിനും മാറ്റുന്നതിനും തുടക്കമിട്ട ഒരു ഇന്ത്യൻ അഭിഭാഷകയായിരുന്നു. 1951-ലെ ജനപ്രാതിനിധ്യ നിയമം ഭേദഗതി ചെയ്യാൻ അപേക്ഷിച്ചതിനാണ് അവർ ഏറെ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കപ്പെട്ടത്. ആദ്യകാല ജീവിതം തിരുത്തുക

കോട്ടയം സ്വദേശിയായ ലില്ലി, തിരുവനന്തപുരത്താണ് വളർന്നത്. അവർ ഒരു സിറിയൻ ക്രിസ്ത്യാനിയായിരുന്നു .[12] 1955-ൽ മദ്രാസ് ഹൈക്കോടതിയിൽ ചേർന്നു, [13] [14] 1959-ൽ, മദ്രാസ് സർവകലാശാലയിൽ നിന്ന് എൽഎൽ. എം പൂർത്തിയാക്കി. എൽഎൽ. എം പൂർത്തിയാക്കിയ, ഇന്ത്യയിലെആദ്യത്തെ വനിതാ അഭിഭാഷകയായിരുന്നു അവർ.[15][16][16] 1960-ൽ സുപ്രീം കോടതിയിൽ പ്രാക്ടീസ് ചെയ്യാനെത്തുമ്പോൾ അവർ ഏറ്റവും മുതിർന്ന വനിതാ അഭിഭാഷകയായിരുന്നു

നിലവിലുള്ള നിയമങ്ങൾ മെച്ചപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതിനായി ഹർജികളിലൂടെ പോരാടേണ്ടത് അഭിഭാഷകരുടെ ഉത്തരവാദിത്തമാണെന്നും [17] കുറ്റവാളികൾ രാഷ്ട്രീയക്കാരായി വരുന്നത് പാർലമെന്ററി സംവിധാനത്തിന് അപമാനമാണെന്നും ലില്ലി വിശ്വസിച്ചു. [18][13] 91-ാം വയസ്സിൽ, 2019 ഡിസംബർ 10 ന്, ലില്ലി തോമസ് ഡൽഹിയിലെ ഒരു സ്വകാര്യ ആശുപത്രിയിൽ അന്തരിച്ചു.
