ഫ്രീസിയ
സസ്യജനുസ്
ഫ്രീസിയ ' ഇറിഡേസീ കുടുംബത്തിൽപ്പെട്ട ബഹുവർഷകുറ്റിച്ചെടിയായ ഒരു സപുഷ്പിസസ്യത്തിന്റെ ജീനസാണ്. 1866-ൽ ആദ്യമായി ഈ ജീനസിനെക്കുറിച്ച് വിവരണം നൽകിയത് Chr. Fr.. എക്ലോൺ (1795-1868) ആയിരുന്നു. 1866-ൽ ജർമ്മൻ സസ്യശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനും ഡോക്ടറും ആയ ഫ്രീഡ്രിക്ക് ഫ്രീസ് (1794-1878) ഇതിനെ നാമകരണം ചെയ്തു. തെക്കൻ ആഫ്രിക്കയുടെ കിഴക്കൻ ഭാഗങ്ങളായ കെനിയയിലും, സൗത്ത് ആഫ്രിക്കയിലും, കേപ് പ്രവിശ്യകളിലും ഭൂരിഭാഗം പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലും ഈ സ്പീഷീസ് കാണപ്പെടുന്നു.[2]
