അസ്സീറിയൻ സഭയിൽ ജൂലിയൻ കലണ്ടർ അടിസ്ഥാനമാക്കിയ ആരാധനക്രമം നിലനിർത്തിയ വിഭാഗമാണ് '''പുരാതന പൗരസ്ത്യ സഭ''' (Ancient Church of the East). ബാഗ്ദാദ് ആണ് ഈ സഭയുടെ ആസ്ഥാനം. [[മാർ ശെമഊൻ ൨൩]] പാത്രിയർക്കീസിന്റെ കാലശേഷം കുടുംബവാഴ്ചാ വിരുദ്ധരും കലണ്ടർ പരിഷ്കരണ വിരുദ്ധരുമായവർ 1968-ൽ [[മാർ തോമ ധർ‍മോ]]യെ പാത്രിയർക്കീസാക്കി. ഏതാനും വർ‍ഷങ്ങൾ ഈ
മാർ തോമ ധർ‍മോയുടെ കാലശേഷം 1970-ൽ തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ട് 1972 ഫെബ്രുവരി 20-നു് വാഴിയ്ക്കപ്പെട്ട [[ആദ്ദായി രണ്ടാമൻ|പരിശുദ്ധ ആദ്ദായി രണ്ടാമനാണ്]] ഇവരുടെ ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ കാതോലിക്കോസ്-പാത്രിയർക്കീസ്. 1995-ൽ ഈ സഭയുടെ കേരള ശാഖ ([[കൽദായ സുറിയാനി സഭ]]) [[അസ്സീറിയൻ പൗരസ്ത്യ സഭ]]യിൽ ലയിച്ചു .
