വംശനാശഭീഷണിയുള്ള ഈ മരം ഏകദേശം ആറു മീറ്റർ വരെ ഉയരത്തിൽ വളരുന്നു. 60 സെന്റീമീറ്റർ വരെ നീളത്തിൽ മുരിങ്ങക്കായോടു സാദൃശ്യമുള്ള ഇതിന്റെ കായ പിഞ്ചായിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ പച്ചനിറത്തിലും പഴുക്കുമ്പോൾ മഞ്ഞനിറത്തിലുമാണ് കാണുന്നത്. പഴച്ചാർ ഭക്ഷ്യയോഗ്യമാണ്.<ref name=lim>Lim, T.
