നിവധി ഉറവ വറ്റാത്ത [[നദി|നദികൾ]] ഒഴുകുന്ന ഹിമാചൽ പ്രദേശ് ഹിമാലയൻ താഴ്‌വരകളിലാകമാനായി വ്യാപിച്ച് കിടക്കുന്നു. സംസ്ഥാനത്തെ ആകെ ജനസംഖ്യയുടെ 90 ശതമാനും ഗ്രാമപ്രദേശങ്ങളിലാണ് അധിവസിക്കുന്നത്.
