[[ഇന്ത്യ|ഇന്ത്യയുടെ]] വടക്കേ അതിർത്തി സംസ്ഥാനമായ [[ജമ്മു-കാശ്മീർ|ജമ്മു-കാശ്മീരിലെ]] [[ലേ]],[[കാർഗിൽ]] എന്നീ ജില്ലകൾ ഉൾക്കൊള്ളുന്ന പ്രദേശമാണു ലഡാക്. വടക്ക് കുൺലൂൻ മലനിരകൾക്കും തെക്ക് ഹിമാലയപർവ്വതനിരകൾക്കും ഇടയിലായി സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന പ്രദേശമാണിത്. ഇൻഡോ-ആര്യൻ , ടിബെറ്റൻ വംശജരാണ്‌ ഇവിടത്തെ നിവാസികൾ. ലിറ്റ്ൽ [[ടിബറ്റ്]] എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന ഇവിടെ ടിബറ്റൻ സംസ്കാരത്തിന്റെ സ്വാധീനം പ്രകടമായി കാണാം. ഭൂരിഭാഗം ജനങ്ങളും ടിബറ്റൻ ബുദ്ധമതവിശ്വാസികളാണ്‌.
