പെൺ വേഴാമ്പലുകൾ മരങ്ങളുടെ പൊത്തുകളിലുള്ള കൂടുകളിൽ മുട്ടയിടുന്ന കാലത്ത് കടന്ന ശേഷം മരത്തിന്റെ തൊലിയും ചെളിയും കൊണ്ട് കൊക്കുകൾ മാത്രം പുറത്തു കാണുന്ന വിധം ബാക്കി ഭാഗങ്ങൾ അടക്കുന്നു. പെൺപക്ഷി തൂവലുകൾ കൊഴിച്ച് കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങൾക്ക് പതുപതുത്ത കൂടൊരുക്കും. ഒന്നോ രണ്ടോ മുട്ടയിടും. മുട്ടകൾ വിരിയുന്നതുവരെ അവ പൊത്തിനുള്ളിൽ നിന്ന് പുറത്ത് വരാതെ അടയിരിക്കും. ആ സമയത്ത് ആൺ വേഴാമ്പൽ ആണ് പെൺ വേഴാമ്പലുകൾക്ക് ഭക്ഷണം തേടിക്കൊണ്ടുകൊടുക്കുന്നത്. 38-40 ദിവസത്തിനുള്ളിൽ മുട്ട വിരിഞ്ഞ് കുട്ടികൾ പുറത്തുവരുന്നു.മുട്ടവിരിഞ്ഞു രണ്ടാഴ്ചയ്ക്കു ശേഷം കൂടിന്റെ അടച്ച ഭാഗം പൊളിച്ച് പെൺകിളി പുറത്തു വരും. കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങൾ കൂടിന്റെ ദ്വാരം ചെറുതാക്കും.പിന്നീട് ആൺപക്ഷിയും പെൺപക്ഷിയും കുട്ടികൾക്ക് തീറ്റ കൊടുക്കും. പൊതുവെ കൂട്ടമായിട്ടാണ് വേഴാമ്പലുകൾ കഴിയുക ,ഒരുകൂട്ടത്തിൽ 20ൽ താഴെ വേഴാമ്പലുകൾ ഉണ്ടാകും.
