The '''patrol user right''' is a specific user right that enables a user to mark edits and page creations as patrolled. This is in order to reduce the backlog of [[Special:NewPages|new pages]] and [http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:RecentChanges&hidepatrolled=1&hideliu=1 unpatrolled edits]. It exists to tell other patrollers something has been reviewed by a patroller, that it's not [[Commons:Vandalism|vandalism]] and doesn't fall outside of our [[Commons:Project scope|project scope]] (or has been reverted/deleted in such case).
