പുതുമൈ പിത്തൻ
പ്രമുഖനായ ഒരു തമിഴ് സാഹിത്യകാരനാണ് പുതുമൈ പിത്തൻ എന്ന പേരിലെഴുതിയിരുന്ന സി. വിരുദാചലം (25 ഏപ്രിൽ 1906 – 5 മേയ് 1948). പുരോഗമനാശയങ്ങളാലും സാമൂഹ്യ വിമർശനത്താലും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ രചനകൾ ആധുനിക തമിഴ് സാഹിത്യത്തിൽ നിർണായക സ്വാധീനം ചെലുത്തിയവയാണ്.[1][2][3] 2002 ൽ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ രചനകൾ തമിഴ്നാട് സർക്കാർ പൊതു സഞ്ചയത്തിൽ ലഭ്യമാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.[4]

ജീവിതരേഖ
തിരുത്തുകതമിഴ്നാട്ടിലെ കടലൂരിനു സമീപമുള്ള തിരുപദ്രിപുലിയൂരിൽ ജനിച്ച വിരുദാചലം. ഗിഞ്ചി, കല്ലക്കുറിച്ചി, ദിണ്ടിവനം എന്നീസ്ഥലങ്ങളിൽ അദ്ധ്യയനം നടത്തി..[5] തിരുനെൽവേലി ഹിന്ദു കോളേജിൽ നിന്ന് 1931 ൽ ബിരുദ പഠനം പൂർത്തിയാക്കി. ആ വർഷം തന്നെ കമലയെ വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചു. ഗാന്ധി,മണിക്കൊടി മാസികകളിൽ കഥകളെഴുതി സാഹിത്യ രംഗത്ത് സജീവമായി. ദിനമണി, ഊഴിയൻ, ദിനസരി തുടങ്ങിയ പത്രങ്ങളിലും പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു. ഔവ്വയാർ, കാമവല്ലി തുടങ്ങിയ സിനിമകൾക്കു തിരക്കഥയെഴുതി. 1945 ൽ പർവ്വതകുമാരി പ്രൊഡക്ഷൻസ് എന്ന പേരിൽ സിനിമാ നിർമ്മാണക്കമ്പനി ആരംഭിച്ചു. വസന്തവല്ലി എന്നൊരു സിനിമ നിർമ്മിക്കാനാരംഭിച്ചെങ്കിലും മുഴുമിക്കാനായില്ല. പൂനെയിൽ രാജമുക്തി എന്ന സിനിമാ നിർമ്മാണത്തിനിടെ ക്ഷയ രോഗ ബാധയാൽ മരണമടഞ്ഞു.
ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കൃതികളിലെ മോപ്പസാങിന്റെ അമിത സ്വാധീനം വിമർശനത്തിനു വിധേയമായിട്ടുണ്ട്.[6]
