ദത്ത തമാനേ
മഹാരാഷ്ട്രയിലെ രത്നഗിരിയിൽ നിന്നുള്ള ഒരു ഗാന്ധിയൻ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യ സമര സേനാനിയായിരുന്നു ദത്ത തമാനേ അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ദത്താത്രേയ ബാലകൃഷ്ണ തമാനേ (1912-2014).
ആദ്യകാലജീവിതം തിരുത്തുക
1913 ഏപ്രിൽ 13ന് രത്നഗിരിയിലെ ഒരു ദരിദ്ര കുടുംബത്തിലാണ് തമാനെ ജനിച്ചത്. അദ്ദേഹം ചന്ദ്രസേനിയ കായസ്ത പ്രഭു എന്ന സമുദായാംഗമാണ്. മുംബൈയിലെ സെൻട്രൽ ദാദറിലെ വി.ജെ.ടി. ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ടിൽ മെക്കാനിക്കൽ എൻജിനീയറിങ്ങിൽ രണ്ടാം വർഷം പഠിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കെ തന്നെ അദ്ദേഹം ഇന്ത്യൻ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യസമര പ്രസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ പ്രചോദിതനായി. 1934 ൽ ഒരു മുഴുവൻ സമയ കോൺഗ്രസ് പ്രവർത്തകനാകുന്നതിന് അദ്ദേഹം പഠനം ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു[1].
രാഷ്ട്രീയത്തിൽ തിരുത്തുക
താനെയിൽ നടന്ന ഉപ്പ് സത്യാഗ്രഹത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുത്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. പോലീസിൽ നിന്നും തലക്കടിയേറ്റ് പരിക്കേറ്റു. കുറച്ചുനാൾ ലോക്കപ്പിലും കഴിഞ്ഞു. അദ്ദേഹം സൈമൺ കമ്മീഷനെതിരെ പ്രതിഷേധ പ്രകടനവും നടത്തി. ഒരു സാമൂഹ്യ പരിഷ്കരണവാദിയെന്ന നിലയിൽ അദ്ദേഹം ആദിവാസി സമുദായത്തിന്റെ ഉന്നമനത്തിനായി പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു. താനെ ജില്ലയിലെ ഒരു ആദിവാസി പ്രദേശമായ ഖാരഗാവ് പ്രദേശത്ത് കാൽനടയായി യാത്ര ചെയ്ത് പ്രശ്നങ്ങൾ പഠിച്ചു. അവിടെ നാട്ടുകാരോടൊത്ത് അദ്ദേഹം ജീവിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് അവരുടെ അവകാശങ്ങൾക്കായി പോരാടുകയും അവരുടെ പുരോഗതിക്കായി പ്രവർത്തിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു[2]. ഈ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾക്ക് അദ്ദേഹം "ആദിവാസി സേവ പുരസ്കാരം" നേടി[3][4][5][6].
പാർലമെന്റിന്റെ ഇരുസഭകളിലും അദ്ദേഹം അംഗമായിരുന്നു. 1983-ൽ സജീവ രാഷ്ട്രീയത്തിൽ നിന്നും വിരമിച്ചു. 100 വയസ്സ് തികഞ്ഞ അവസരത്തിൽ മഹാരാഷ്ട്ര മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയായിരുന്ന പൃഥ്വിരാജ് ചവാൻ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ആദരിച്ചിരുന്നു[1].
സാഹിത്യത്തിൽ തിരുത്തുക
ഒരു മികച്ച വായനക്കാരനും എഴുത്തുകാരനും ചിന്തകനുമായിരുന്ന അദ്ദേഹം മറാഠി സാഹിത്യത്തിലും, ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് സാഹിത്യത്തിലും പണ്ഡിതനായിരുന്നു. സാഹിത്യത്തിനുള്ള മഹാരാഷ്ട്ര സംസ്ഥാന ഗവൺമെന്റിന്റെ പുരസ്കാരം നേടിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. കഥാസംഗ്രഹ കലിച ഗൗഡ എന്ന കൃതിക്കായിരുന്നു ഈ പുരസ്ക്കാരം[1].
മരണം തിരുത്തുക
2014 ഏപ്രിൽ 6-ന്, തന്റെ 102-ആം വയസ്സിൽ അദ്ദേഹം നിര്യാതനായി.

His speech made me realize my responsibility as a people's representative and made me conscious both of the opportunity and challenge in my political life. My elder friend Datta Tamhane, who had participated in the freedom struggle in 1932 and also in 1942, was a member of the Legislative Assembly from 1957 to 1962, representing the Thane city constituency. He had made a mark as a studious and effective M.L.A. of the Praja Socialist Party.

Tamhane has been an active party leader since the inception of the Socialist Party and is well-known for his integrity and honesty in true right Gandhian fashion.
