ഈ ജില്ലയുടെ വടക്ക് ആന്ധ്രപ്രദേശ്‌ സംസ്ഥാനവും കിഴക്ക് ബംഗാൾ ഉൾക്കടലും തെക്കുകിഴക്കായി ചെന്നൈ ജില്ലയും തെക്ക് കാഞ്ചിപുരം ജില്ലയും പടിഞ്ഞാറ് വെല്ലൂർ ജില്ലയും സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നു.
