ഒരു അമേരിക്കൻ ഭൂഗർഭശാസ്‌ത്രഞയും പാലിയെന്റോളോജിസ്റ്റും ആണ് ജൂലിയ ആൻ ഗാർഡ്നർ. മൊളസ്കുകളുടെ ഫോസിൽ ഗവേഷണത്തിൽ അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര പ്രശസ്തി ഉള്ള പാലിയെന്റോളോജിസ്റ്റ്‌ കൂടിയാണ് ഇവർ.[1]

Ecphora gardnerae was named after Julia Anna Gardner and is the official fossil shell of the state of Maryland.

കടൽ തീരങ്ങളും അവയോടു ചേർന്ന ആവാസ വ്യവസ്ഥയും ആയിരുന്നു മുഖ്യ പഠന വിഷയം . അമേരിക്കൻ ജോലോജിക്കൽ സർവേയിൽ പ്രവർത്തിച്ച കാലയളവിൽ ഇവർ നടത്തിയ കടലോര പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലെ പഠനങ്ങൾ ശ്രദ്ധേയമാണ് . 1920 ൽ ടെക്സസിൽ പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിരുന്ന കാലയളവിൽ എഴുപതോളം പുതിയ ഫോസിലുകൾ കണ്ടെത്തിയിരുന്നു ഇവർ .
