ക്യൂബൻ മക്കൗ
വംശനാശം സംഭവിച്ച ഒരു സപ്തവർണ്ണ തത്തയാണ് ക്യൂബൻ മക്കൗ. ക്യൂബയിലും സമീപ ദ്വീപുകളിലുമായിരുന്നു പത്തൊൻപതാം നൂറ്റാണ്ട് വരെ ഇവയെ കണ്ടിരുന്നത്. ഇന്ന് കാണപ്പെടുന്ന Scarlet macaw യുമായി ഇതിനു സാമ്യം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു എന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. ഇവയുടെ അസ്ഥികൂടങ്ങൾ ഇതുവരെ കിട്ടിയിട്ടില്ല എങ്കിലും ഉപ ജീവാശ്മങ്ങൾ ക്യൂബയിൽ നിന്നും ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

ആദ്യകാല പര്യവേഷകർ ആയിരുന്ന ക്രിസ്റ്റഫർ കൊളംബസ്, ഡീഗോ അൽവാരെസ് തുടങ്ങിയവർ 14,15 നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകളിൽ ഇവയെ പറ്റി പരാമർശിച്ചിരുന്നു. ക്യൂബയെ കുറിച്ചുള്ള പഴയ പുസ്തകങ്ങളിലും ലേഖനങ്ങളിലും ഇവയെ സചിത്രം പ്രതിപാദിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.[2] ഇതിനു ആദ്യം നൽകിയ ശാസ്ത്രനാമം Psittacus tricolor എന്നായിരുന്നു. [3]
