ഇൽഹാൻ ഉമർ

അമേരിക്കയിലെ ഒരു രാഷ്ട്രീയ പ്രവർത്തകയാണ് ഇൽഹാൻ അബ്ദുല്ലാഹി ഉമർ (ജനനം ഒക്ടോബർ 4, 1982). അമേരിക്കൻ കോൺഗ്രസിൽ 2019 മുതൽ മിനസോട്ടയിലെ അഞ്ചാം നമ്പർ ജില്ലയെ ഇൽഹാൻ ഉമർ പ്രതിനിധീകരിച്ച് വരുന്നു. ഡെമോക്രാറ്റിക് മുന്നണിയിലെ മിനസോട്ട ഡെമോക്രാറ്റിക്- ഫാർമർ- ലേബർ പാർട്ടിയിൽ അംഗമായ ഇൽഹാൻ ഉമർ[6], 2017 മുതൽ 2019 വരെ മിനസോട്ട ഹൗസ് ഓഫ് റെപ്രസന്റേറ്റീവ്സിൽ മിന്നിയപൊളിസിനെ പ്രതിനിധീകരിച്ചിരുന്നു. മിന്നിയപൊളിസും പ്രാന്തപ്രദേശങ്ങളും ഉൾക്കൊള്ളുന്നതാണ് അവരുടെ മണ്ഡലം.

അമേരിക്കൻ കോൺഗ്രസ്സിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ സോമാലി വംശജ, പുറത്ത് നിന്ന് വന്ന് പൗരത്വം നേടിയ വ്യക്തി എന്നീ നിലകളിൽ പ്രസക്തയാണ് ഇൽഹാൻ ഉമർ. മിനസോട്ടയിൽ നിന്ന് തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ട ആദ്യ വെള്ളക്കാരല്ലാത്ത വനിതയാണ് ഇവർ. കോൺഗ്രസ്സിലെത്തുന്ന ആദ്യ രണ്ട് മുസ്‌ലിം വനിതകളിൽ ഒരാളാണ് ഇവർ. റാഷിദ് തുലൈബ് ആണ് മറ്റൊരാൾ[10][11]. നിരവധി തവണ വധ ഭീഷണികളും അപവാദ പ്രചരണങ്ങളും രാഷ്ട്രീയ എതിരാളികളിൽ നിന്ന് നേരിടേണ്ടി വന്നിട്ടുള്ള[12][13] ഇൽഹാൻ ഉമറിന് നേരെ മുൻ പ്രസിഡന്റ് ഡോണാൾഡ് ട്രമ്പ് വരെ വ്യാജവും തെറ്റിദ്ധരിപ്പിക്കുന്നതുമായ പരാമർശങ്ങൾ നടത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്[14][15].

ജീവിതരേഖ തിരുത്തുക

സോമാലിയയിലെ മൊഗാദിഷു നഗരത്തിൽ 1982 ഒക്ടോബർ 4-നാണ് ഇൽഹാൻ ഉമർ ജനിക്കുന്നത്[16][17][18][19]. ബൈദോവ എന്ന പ്രദേശത്താണ് ചെറുപ്പകാലത്ത് ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നത്. ഏഴ് മക്കളിലെ ഇളയ മകളായാണ് ഇൽഹാൻ വളർന്നത്. സോമാലിയയിലെ മജീർതീൻ വംശത്തിൽ പെട്ട നൂർ ഉമർ മുഹമ്മദ് ആണ് പിതാവ്[20][21][22]. മാതാവ് ഫദൂമ അബ്‌കാർ ഹാജി ഹുസൈൻ ഇൽഹാന്റെ രണ്ടാം വയസ്സിൽ അന്തരിച്ചു[23][24][25][26]. പിതാവും പിതാമഹനുമാണ് പിന്നീട് ഇൽഹാനെയും സഹോദരങ്ങളെയും വളർത്തിയത്[27][28].

സോമാലിയയിലെ അഭ്യന്തര യുദ്ധത്തിന്റെ സാഹചര്യത്തിൽ അഭയാർത്ഥികളായി കെനിയയിലെത്തിയ കുടുംബം നാല് വർഷത്തോളം അവിടെ കഴിച്ചുകൂട്ടി[29][30][31].

1995-ൽ അമേരിക്കയിൽ അഭയം തേടിയ കുടുംബം ന്യൂയോർക്കിലെത്തിച്ചേർന്നു[32][33]. കുറച്ചുകാലം വെർജീനിയയിലെ ആർലിങ്ടണിൽ താമസിച്ച ശേഷം മിനിയപോളിസിൽ താമസമാക്കി[34]. പിതാവ് ടാക്സി ഡ്രൈവറായി ജോലി ആരംഭിച്ചു. തുടർന്ന് ഒരു തപാൽ ഓഫീസിൽ ജോലിയിലെത്തി.

ജനാധിപത്യത്തിന്റെ സവിശേഷതകൾ പിതാവും പിതാമഹനും ഇൽഹാൻ ഉമറിന് പറഞ്ഞു കൊടുത്തിരുന്നു. പിതാമഹന്റെ ദ്വിഭാഷിയായി പതിനാലാം വയസ്സിൽ തന്നെ കോക്കസ് യോഗങ്ങളിൽ ഇൽഹാൻ പോയിത്തുടങ്ങി[35][36]. വെർജീനിയയിലെ സ്കൂൾ കാലത്ത് സ്കൂളിൽ നേരിടേണ്ടി വന്ന വിവേചനങ്ങൾ[34] അവർ ഈ യോഗങ്ങളിൽ വ്യക്തമാക്കിയിരുന്നു. പതിനേഴാം വയസ്സിൽ ഇൽഹാൻ ഉമറിന് അമേരിക്കൻ പൗരത്വം ലഭിച്ചു[37][34].


തോമസ് എഡിസൺ ഹൈസ്കൂളിൽ പഠിച്ച ഇൽഹാൻ ഉമർ, 2001-ൽ ബിരുദം നേടി. വിദ്യാർത്ഥി സംഘാടകയായി അവർ സന്നദ്ധസേവനം നടത്തിവന്നു[38]. നോർത്ത് ഡെക്കോട്ട സ്റ്റേറ്റ് യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റിയിൽ പൊളിറ്റിക്കൽ സയൻസ് & ഇന്റർനാഷണൽ സ്റ്റഡീസിൽ ബിരുദം നേടി[39][40]. മിനസോട്ട യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി, ഹംഫ്രി സ്കൂൾ ഓഫ് പബ്ലിക് അഫയേഴ്സ് എന്നിവയിൽ പോളിസി ഫെലോ ആയിരുന്നു ഇൽഹാൻ ഉമർ[41][42][43].
