ഇസാക് ബബെൽ

ഇസാക് ബബെൽ ഇസാക് ഇമ്മാനുയിലോവിച്ച് ബബെൽ (Russian: Исаа́к Эммануи́лович Ба́бель; uly 13 [O.S. July 1] 1894 – January 27, 1940) ഒരു റഷ്യൻ ഭാഷാ പത്രപ്രവർത്തകനും നാടകകൃത്തും വിവർത്തകനും ചെറുകഥാകൃത്തും ആയിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത് Red Cavalry, Story of My Dovecote, Tales of Odessa എന്നിവയുടെ രചയിതാവായിട്ടാണ്. ഇവയെല്ലാം റഷ്യൻ സാഹിത്യത്തിലെ മാസ്റ്റർപീസുകളായാണ് അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. ബബെലിനെ "the greatest prose writer of Russian Jewry" ആയി അംഗീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടുവരുന്നു. സോവിയറ്റ് യൂണിയനിലെ കമ്യൂണിസ്റ്റ് പാർട്ടിയോട് കൂറുണ്ടായിരുന്നെങ്കിലും സ്വീകാര്യനായിരുന്നില്ല. എൻ. കെ. വി. ഡി യുടെ ചീഫ് ആയിരുന്ന നികൊളായ് യെഷോബിന്റെ ഭാര്യയുമായി ദീർഘകാലമായുണ്ടായിരുന്ന പ്രേമബന്ധം മൂലം ബബെൽ ജോസഫ് സ്റ്റാലിന്റെ ഗ്രേറ്റ് പർജിന് ഇരയായി. 1939 മേയ് 15 ന് രാത്രി പെരെഡെൽക്കിനോയിൽ വെച്ച് എൻ. കെ. വി. ഡി ബബെലിനെ അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്തു. ചോദ്യം ചെയ്യലിൽ ട്രോഡ്സ്കിസ്റ്റ് തീവ്രവാദിയായും, വിദേശചാരനായും കുറ്റം സമ്മതിച്ച ശേഷം 1940 ജനുവരി 27 ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ വെടിവയ്ക്കപ്പെട്ടു.
