Charles Joseph Panckoucke 1788 -മുതൽ പാരീസിൽ ആണ് ഈ ഗ്രന്ഥം പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചത്. Encyclopédie méthodique എന്ന ബൃഹദ്‌ഗ്രന്ഥത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗങ്ങളായി ഇതിനെ കരുതാമെങ്കിലും അവയോരോന്നും വ്യത്യസ്തമായിത്തന്നെ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചതായിരുന്നു.
