മാൻഡ്രേക്ക് ദ മജീഷ്യൻ ലീ ഫോക്ക് രചിച്ച ഒരു കോമിക് സ്ട്രിപ്പ് കഥാപാത്രമാണ്. ഇത് അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻറെതന്നെ ദ ഫാൻറം എന്ന കഥാപാത്രത്തെ സൃഷ്ടിക്കുന്നതിനുമുമ്പായിരുന്നു.[1][2] 1934 ജൂൺ 11 നാണ് ഇത് ആദ്യമായി പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടത്. സ്ട്രിപ്പ് ചിത്രകാരനായി ഫിൽ ഡേവിസ് താമസിയാതെ ചുമതലയേറ്റെടുക്കുകയും കഥ തയ്യാറാക്കുന്നത് ലീ ഫോക്ക് തുടരുകയും ചെയ്തു. ഈ കോമിസ് സ്ട്രിപ്പിൻറെ വിതരണക്കാർ കിങ്ങ് ഫ്യൂച്ചേർസ് സിൻഡിക്കേറ്റ് ആയിരുന്നു.[3]

ലീ ഫോക്കിന്റെ “മാൻഡ്രേക്ക് ദ മജീഷ്യൻ”, “ദ ഫാൻറം” മെൽ ഗ്രാഫ്സിൻറെ “ദ അഡ്വഞ്ചേർസ് ഓഫ് പാറ്റ്സി” എന്നിവയാണ് കോമിക്കുകളിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ സൂപ്പർ ഹീറോകളായി കോമിക് ചരിത്രകാരന്മാർ വിലയിരുത്തുന്നത്. കോമിക് ചരിത്രകാരനായ ഡോൺ മാർക്ക് സ്റ്റയിനിൻറെ അഭിപ്രായത്തിൽ 1934 ൽ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരണം തുടങ്ങിയ മാൻഡ്രേക്ക് ദ മജീഷ്യൻ തന്നെയാണ് കോമിക്ക് കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളിലെ ആദ്യ സൂപ്പർ ഹീറോ.[4][5][6][7]

ലീ ഫോക്ക്1999 മാർച്ച് 13 ന് അന്തരിക്കുന്നതുവരെ ഇതിൻറെ കഥ കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്തിരുന്നു. അതുപോലെ 1964 ഡിസംബർ 16 ന് തന്റെ മരണം വരെ ഡേവിസ് തന്നെയായിരുന്നു ഇതിൻറെ ചിത്രീകരണം നിർവ്വഹിച്ചിരുന്നത്. 1942 മുതലുള്ള കുറിച്ചു കാലം ഫിൽ ഡേവിസിൻറെ പത്നി മാർത്ത വരയ്ക്കുന്നതിൽ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ സഹായിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഫിൽ ഡേവിസിൻറെ കോമിക് സ്ട്രിപ്പുകൾ 1965 ഫെബ്രുവരിയിൽ അവസാനിക്കുകയും പിന്നീടുള്ള ഏതാനും മാസങ്ങൾ മാർത്ത ഡേവിസ് തനിയെ വരയ്ക്കുന്നതു തുടരുകയും ചെയ്തു. അതിനു ശേഷം ഫോക്ക് ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ ചിത്രരചയിതാവായ ഫ്രെഡ് ഫ്രെഡറിക്കിനെ നിയമിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. 1965 ജൂൺമാസം 27 മുതൽ ഫെഡ് ഫ്രെഡറിക് സ്ഥിരമായി ഞായറാഴ്ചകളിൽ വരച്ചു തുടങ്ങി. 1999 ൽ ലീ ഫാൽക്കിൻറെ മരണശേഷം ഫ്രെഡറിക് ഈ കോമിക്കിൻറെ വരയോടൊപ്പം കഥ തയ്യാറാക്കുന്ന ജോലിയും ചെയ്തു തുടങ്ങി. 2002 ഡിസംബർ 29 ന് ഞായറാഴ്ചകളിലെ മാൻഡ്രേക്ക് സ്ട്രിപ്പുകളുടെ അന്ത്യമായി. ഫ്രെഡ് ഫ്രെഡറിക്സ് വിരമിച്ചതോടെ 2013 ജൂലൈ 6 ന് ദിനേനയുള്ള ഈ കോമിക് സ്ട്രിപ്പുകൾ പൂർണ്ണമാകാതെ നിലച്ചു.
