1972 വരെ ആഴ്ചയിലും 1978 വരെ ഇടവിട്ടു "സ്പെഷ്യൽ" ആയും 1978 മുതൽ 2000 വരെ പ്രതിമാസവും പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച ഒരു അമേരിക്കൻ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരണമാണ് ലൈഫ്. 1936 മുതൽ 1972 വരെയുള്ള ലൈഫിൻറെ സുവർണ്ണ കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ ലൈഫ് ഫോട്ടോഗ്രാഫിയിൽ ഗുണനിലവാരമുള്ള ആഴ്ചയിലെ പൊതു താൽപ്പര്യമുള്ള മാസികയായി അറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു.

1855 ജനുവരി 4 ന് 1155 ബ്രാഡ്വേയിൽ ന്യൂയോർക്ക് സിറ്റി ആർട്ടിസ്റ്റ് സ്റ്റുഡിയോയിലെ ജോൺ ആംസ് മിച്ചൽ, ആൻഡ്രൂ മില്ലർ എന്നിവർ പങ്കാളികളായി ലൈഫ് മാസിക നിലവിൽ വന്നു. മിച്ചൽ മില്ലർ മാഗസിനിൽ 75 ശതമാനം അവകാശത്തിന് താത്പര്യം പ്രകടിപ്പിക്കുകയും ഇരുവരും ചേർന്ന് ആരംഭിച്ച മാസിക അവരുടെ മരണം വരെ കൈവശാവകാശം നിലനിർത്തി.[1]മില്ലർ മാസികയുടെ സെക്രട്ടറി-ട്രഷർ ആയി സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിച്ചു, ഈ പങ്കാളിത്ത പ്രവർത്തനത്തിന്റെ വ്യാപാര വശം വളരെ വിജയകരമായിരുന്നു.
