കൈനമാറ്റിക്സ് ചലനത്തിന്റെ കാരണങ്ങളെ പരിഗണിക്കാതെ ബിന്ദുക്കൾ, body കൾ (വസ്തുക്കൾ), bodyകളുടെ വ്യവസ്ഥകൾ (വസ്തുക്കളുടെ കൂട്ടങ്ങൾ) എന്നിവയെപ്പറ്റി വിവരിക്കുന്ന ക്ലാസിക്കൽ മെക്കനിക്സിന്റെ ഒരു ശാഖയാണ്. ഈ വാക്ക് എ. എം ആമ്പിയറുടെ cinématique [1] ന്റെ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് വകഭേദമാണ്. [2][3][4] The term is the English version of A.M. Ampère's cinématique,[5] അദ്ദേഹം ഈ വാക്ക് നിർമ്മിച്ചത് κινεῖν kinein ("ചലിക്കുക") എന്നതിൽ നിന്ന് ഉൽഭവിച്ച Greek κίνημα kinema ("ചലനം") എന്ന വാക്കിൽ നിന്നാണ്. [6][7]
കൈനമാറ്റിക്സിന്റെ പഠനം സാധാരണയായി അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത് "geometry of motion" എന്നാണ്. [8]
