ഏകദേശം 98 - 95 ദശ ലക്ഷം വർഷങ്ങൾക്ക് മുൻപ് തുടക്ക ക്രിറ്റേഷ്യസ് കാലത്ത് ഓസ്ട്രേലിയയിൽ ജീവിച്ചിരുന്ന സോറാപോഡ് വംശത്തിൽ പെട്ട ദിനോസർ ആയിരുന്നു ഓസ്ട്രോസോറസ്. തെക്കൻ പല്ലി എന്നാണ് പേരിനു അർഥം .
