സോഫിയ വാഡിയ
കൊളംബിയയിൽ ജനിച്ച് ഇന്ത്യാക്കാരിയായി തീർന്ന ബ്രഹ്മവൈജ്ഞാനികയും സാഹിത്യകാരിയുമായിരുന്നു സോഫിയ വാഡിയ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ്:Sophia Wadia,( പൂർവ്വ നാമം സോഫിയ കൊമാച്ചോ) പി.ഇ.എൻ (പെൻ) ന്റെ ആൾ ഇന്ത്യ സെന്ററിന്റെ സ്ഥാപകയും.[1][2] ഇന്ത്യൻ ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ട് ഓഫ് വേൾഡ് കൾചറിന്റെ സഹസ്ഥാപകയും ആണ് [3] ഏഷ്യൻ ബുക്ക് ട്രസ്റ്റ് സ്ഥാപിച്ചതും സോഫിയയാണ്. 1960 ൽ രാജ്യം പദ്മശ്രീ പുരസ്കാരം നൽകി ആദരിച്ചു [4]

ജീവചരിത്രം തിരുത്തുക
1901-ൽ കൊളംബിയയിൽ ജനിച്ച സോഫിയ കാമാച്ചോ, തൻറെ മാതൃരാജ്യത്തും പാരീസ്, ലണ്ടൻ, ന്യൂയോർക്ക് എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലുമായി വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം നിർവ്വഹിച്ചു.[5] 1927-ൽ, ബി.പി. വാഡിയ എന്ന ഇന്ത്യൻ തിയോസഫിസ്റ്റിനെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻറെ യൂറോപ്യൻ പര്യടനവേളയിൽ കണ്ടുമുട്ടിയ അവർ, അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ തത്ത്വചിന്തയിൽ ആകൃഷ്ടയാകുകയും 1928-ൽ വിവാഹം കഴിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.[6] അടുത്ത വർഷം, തന്റെ ഭർത്താവിനോടൊപ്പം ഇന്ത്യയിലെത്തിയ സോഫിയ അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻറെ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളിൽ പങ്കാളിയായി.[7] യൂറോപ്പിലെ വിവിധ സ്ഥലങ്ങളിൽ യുണൈറ്റഡ് ലോഡ്ജ് ഓഫ് തിയോസഫിസ്റ്റ് എന്ന അസോസിയേഷൻറെ നിരവധി ശാഖകൾ സ്ഥാപിച്ച വാഡിയ ദമ്പതിമാർ[8] 1929-ൽ മുംബൈയിൽ ഇതിൻറെ ആദ്യത്തെ ഇന്ത്യൻ ശാഖ സ്ഥാപിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.[9]
