സെങ്ങ്‍കാങ്ങ് (ചൈനീസ്: 盛港, തമിഴ്: செங்காங்) സിങ്കപ്പൂരിൻറെ വടക്കുകിഴക്കൻ മേഖലയിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു ആസൂത്രണ പ്രദേശവും പാർപ്പിട നഗരവുമാണ്. സെങ്ങ്‍കാങ്ങ് നഗരത്തിൻറെ അതിരുകൾ വടക്കുവശത്ത് സെലെറ്റാർ, പുങ്കോളിൻ, കിഴക്ക് പാസിർ റിസ്, പായ ലെബാർ, തെക്ക് ഹൌഗാങ്ങ്, സെരങ്കൂൺ, പടിഞ്ഞാറ് യിഷുൻ, ആങ്ങ് മോ കിയോ എന്നിങ്ങനെയാണ്. യഥാർത്ഥത്തിൽ ഒരു മീൻപിടുത്ത ഗ്രാമമായിരുന്ന സെങ്ങ്‍കാങ്ങ് പ്രദേശം, ഹൌസിംഗ് ആൻറ് ഡവലപ്പ്മെൻറ് ബോർഡ് (HDB) ൻറെ അഭിലാഷങ്ങളനുസരിച്ച് പൂർണമായി ഒരു ഭവന കേന്ദ്രമായി രൂപാന്തരപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതിനുള്ള ശ്രമത്തിൽ അതിവേഗം വികസനത്തിലേയ്ക്കു കുതിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.[4]

പേരിൻറെ ഉത്ഭവം തിരുത്തുക

ചൈനീസ് ഭാഷയിൽ സെങ്ങ്‍കാങ്ങ് എന്ന പദത്തിനർത്ഥം "സമ്പന്ന തുറമുഖം" എന്നാണ്. ഈ പേരു വന്നത് ദൂരെ ലൊറോങ്ങ് ബ്വാങ്കോക്കിലെ ലൊറോങ്ങ് സെങ്കാങ്ങ് എന്ന പേരുള്ള പാതയുടെ പേരിൽനിന്നാണ്. ഇവിടെ സുൻഗീ സെരങ്കൂണിനു സമാന്തരമായി നേരത്തേ ഒരു മത്സ്യ ബന്ധന തുറമുഖം നിലനിന്നിരുന്നതിനാൽ ഈ സ്ഥലം മുൻകാലത്ത് "കങ്കർ" (Gang Jiao 港脚) അല്ലെങ്കിൽ "ഫൂട്ട് ഓഫ് ദി പോർട്ട്" എന്നായിരുന്നു അറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നത്. പഴയ കാലങ്ങളിൽ പ്രദേശത്തു നിലനിന്നിരുന്ന മത്സ്യബന്ധന ഗ്രാമങ്ങളും റബ്ബർ, കുരുമുളക്, പൈനാപ്പിൾ തോട്ടങ്ങളും ഈ മേഖലയക്ക് അഭിവൃദ്ധി നൽകിയിരുന്നു.[5][6]

ചരിത്രം തിരുത്തുക

ആധുനിക ഭവന നിർമ്മാണ മേഖലയായി വികസിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനു മുൻപ് ഈ പ്രദേശം പച്ചക്കറിക്കൃഷികൾ, പന്നി ഫാമുകൾ, ഉഷ്ണമേഖലാ വനങ്ങൾ എന്നിവയടങ്ങിയ ആവാസകേന്ദ്രമായിരുന്നു. അക്കാലത്ത് ഇവിടെയുണ്ടായിരുന്ന ഏക പബ്ലിക് ഹൌസിംഗ് എസ്റ്റേറ്റ്, പുങ്കോൾ റോഡിനു ഓരത്തുണ്ടായിരുന്ന പുനരധിവാസ കർഷകരെ ഉൾക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്ന ഉയരം കുറഞ്ഞ ഏതാനും ഭവന സമുച്ചയങ്ങൾ (ബ്ലോക്കുകൾ 1–5, 206 & 207) നിലനിന്നിരുന്ന പുങ്കോൾ ഗ്രാമീണ കേന്ദ്രമായിരുന്നു. ഭാവിയിൽ, ഉയരം കൂടിയ റെസിഡൻഷ്യൽ അപ്പാർട്ട് സമുച്ചയങ്ങൾക്കു വഴിതെളിക്കുവാനായി 2005 ൽ ഈ ഗ്രാമീണ കേന്ദ്രത്തിലെ ഭവന സമുച്ചയങ്ങൾ തകർക്കപ്പെട്ടു.

1994 ൽ ഹൌസിംഗ് ആൻറ് ഡവലപ്പ്മെൻറ് ബോർഡിൽ നിന്നുള്ള (HDB) 10 നഗര നിർമ്മാതാക്കളുടെ ഒരു സംഘം സെങ്ങ്‍കാങ്ങിൽ പുതിയൊരു നഗരം സ്ഥാപിക്കുന്നതിനായി ആശയവിനിമയം നടത്താൻ തുടങ്ങി. സെങ്ങ്‍കാങ്ങ് ആറു അയൽപക്കങ്ങളായി ഛേദിക്കുകയും ഇവയെല്ലാം ചേർന്ന് ഏതാണ്ട് 95,000 പൊതു സ്വകാര്യ ഭവന സമുച്ചയങ്ങൾ ദീർഘകാലാടിസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ ഉണ്ടാക്കുവാൻ തീരുമാനിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.[7][8]

ഭൂമിശാസ്ത്രം തിരുത്തുക

സെങ്ങ്‍കാങ്ങ് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത് സിംഗപ്പൂരിൻറെ വടക്ക്-കിഴക്കൻ ഭാഗത്ത്, ഹൌഗാങ്ങ് ന്യൂ ടൌണിന് വടക്കായിട്ടാണ്. ഇത് നഗരവത്ക്കരണ അതോറിറ്റി (URA) വടക്കുകിഴക്കൻ മേഖലയായി നിർവ്വചിച്ച പ്രദേശത്താണ്. നഗരത്തിൻറെ അതിരുകൾ വടക്ക് ടാമ്പൈൻസ് എക്സ്പ്രസ് വേ (TPE), കിഴക്ക് സുൻഗീ സെരൻഗൂൺ (സെരൻഗൂൺ നദി), തെക്ക് ബ്വാങ്കോക്ക് ഡ്രൈവ്, പടിഞ്ഞാറ് ജലൻ കായു എന്നിവയാണ്. സുൻഗീ പുങ്കോൾ (പുങ്കോൾ നദി) പുതിയ നഗരത്തെ മുറിച്ചു കടന്നു പോകുകയും നഗരത്തെ സെങ്ങ്‍കാങ്ങ് ഈസ്റ്റ്, സെങ്ങ്‍കാങ്ങ് വെസ്റ്റ് എന്നിങ്ങനെ വിഭജിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. സെങ്ങ്‍കാങ്ങ് നഗരം മദ്ധ്യം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത് കോമ്പസ്‍വെയിലിൽ ആണ്. 2015 ൽ പൂർത്തിയായ ഒരു റോഡിനാൽ ചുറ്റപ്പെട്ട് സമീപ ഭാവിയിൽ ജലാൻ കായുവിൻറെ പടിഞ്ഞാറ് ഭാഗത്ത് 'സെങ്ങ്‍കാങ്ങ് വെസ്റ്റ് ഇൻഡസ്ട്രിയൽ ഏരിയ' എന്ന പേരിൽ ഒരു പുതിയ വ്യവസായ മേഖല നിർമ്മിക്കുവാൻ തീരുമാനമെടുത്തിരുന്നു.
