ഷാർലറ്റ്ടൗൺ കനേഡിയൻ പ്രവിശ്യയായ പ്രിൻസ് എഡ്വേർഡ് ദ്വീപിന്റെ തലസ്ഥാനവും ഏറ്റവും വലിയ നഗരവും കൂടാതെ ക്വീൻസ് കൗണ്ടിയിലെ കൗണ്ടി സീറ്റുമാണ്. ഷാർലറ്റ് രാജ്ഞിയുടെ പേരിലുള്ള ഷാർലറ്റ്ടൗൺ 1855-ൽ ഒരു നഗരമായി സംയോജിപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ടു.

ആദ്യകാല ചരിത്രം (1720-1900) തിരുത്തുക
ഈ പ്രദേശത്തെ ആദ്യ യൂറോപ്യൻ കുടിയേറ്റക്കാർ ഫ്രഞ്ചുകാരായിരുന്നു. ഫോർട്രസ് ലൂയിസ്ബർഗിൽ നിന്നുള്ള ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥർ 1720-ൽ ഇന്നത്തെ നഗരത്തിന് എതിർവശത്തുള്ള തുറമുഖത്തിന്റെ തെക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറൻ ഭാഗത്ത് പോർട്ട് ലാ ജോയ് എന്ന പേരിൽ ഒരു കുടിയേറ്റ കേന്ദ്രം സ്ഥാപിച്ചു. ലൂയിസ്ബർഗിൽ നിന്ന് അക്കാഡിയൻ കുടിയേറ്റക്കാരെ കടത്തിവിടുന്നതിനായി മിഷേൽ ഹാഷെ-ഗാലന്റാണ് ഈ കുടിയേറ്റ കേന്ദ്രത്തിന് നേതൃത്വം നൽകിയത്.
