കർണ്ണാടകസംഗീതരംഗത്തുള്ള സഹോദരിമാരാണ് രഞ്ജനിയും ഗായത്രിയും. വായ്പ്പാട്ടും വയലിനുമാണ് ഇവരുടെ മേഖല. സ്റ്റുഡിയോ റെക്കോർഡിംഗുകൾ, ടെലിവിഷൻ, റേഡിയോ, സംഗീതകച്ചേരികൾ എന്നിവ ഇവരുടെ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു. ഒറ്റയ്ക്കും കൂട്ടായും ഇവർ സംഗീതം അവതരിപ്പിക്കാറുണ്ട്. സംഗീതസംവിധായകർ, അധ്യാപകർ, ഇന്ത്യൻ ക്ലാസിക്കൽ സംഗീതത്തിന്റെ അംബാസഡർമാർ എന്നിങ്ങനെയും ഇവർ അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു

ആദ്യകാലജീവിതം തിരുത്തുക
എൻ. ബാലസുബ്രഹ്മണ്യവും, കർണ്ണാടകസംഗീതജ്ഞയായ മീനാക്ഷിയുമാണ് രഞ്ജനിയുടെയും ഗായത്രിയുടെയും മാതാപിതാക്കൾ. ശാസ്ത്രീയസംഗീതത്തിൽ ആഴത്തിൽ ഏർപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു തമിഴ് കുടുംബത്തിൽ ജനിച്ച ഇവരുടെ സംഗീതപരമായ കഴിവുകൾ വളരെ ചെറുപ്രായത്തിൽ തന്നെ കണ്ടെത്താനായി. ഗായത്രിക്ക് രണ്ടര വയസ്സുള്ളപ്പോൾ നൂറിലധികം രാഗങ്ങൾ തിരിച്ചറിയാൻ കഴിയുമായിരുന്നു. അഞ്ചാം വയസ്സിൽ രഞ്ജനിക്ക് സങ്കീർണ്ണമായ താളം പാറ്റേണുകൾ മനസ്സിലാകുമായിരുന്നു. സംഗീതഭൂഷണം പ്രൊഫ. ടി.എസ്. കൃഷ്ണസ്വാമിയിൽ നിന്നും മുംബൈയിലെ ഷൺമുഖാനന്ദ സംഗീത വിദ്യാലയത്തിൽ അവർ യഥാക്രമം ഒൻപതും ആറും വയസ്സുള്ളപ്പോൾ തന്നെ വയലിൻ പരിശീലനം ആരംഭിച്ചു.[1]

- Received the title of Vani Kala Sudhakara from Thyaga Brahma Gana Sabha in 2015
- Sangeeta Kala Siromani Award from Chennai Cultural Academy in 2016
- Lifetime Achievement award from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in 2013[2]
- Sanskriti Awards, instituted by Sanskriti Foundation, New Delhi in 2008 (recognising their contribution to the field of performing arts)[3]
- Title of "Isai Peroli" from the Kartik Fine Arts, Chennai in Dec 2005.
- Kalki Krishnamurthi Memorial Award in 2004 (instituted by the Kalki trust in memory of the writer Sri. Kalki Krishnamurthy)[4]
- Yogam Nagaswami Award of the Music Academy
- National Eminence Award (by the Shanmukhananda Sabha, Mumbai)[4]
